Congrats, girl!
We are pleased to announce Michelle Bailey has been appointed by Florence County Council to serve on the Developing Communities Commission as the representative for the Town of Olanta.
The Developing Communities Commission advises and assists with community development initiatives across Florence County’s smaller municipalities, including Coward, Johnsonville, Lake City, Olanta, Pamplico, Quinby, Scranton, and Timmonsville. The commission aligns with the broader public-private economic development framework serving the county. The Florence County Economic Development Partnership works to recruit new industry and support the growth of existing businesses, while Florence County Progress—the Partnership’s private-sector arm—provides business leadership and funding support to advance economic development initiatives. Together, the two organizations operate as a unified team to strengthen Florence County’s economic competitiveness and quality of life.
Bailey was recommended by Olanta Mayor Michael Welch and formally appointed by Florence County Council. She brings more than two decades of community leadership experience to the role. She has been actively involved with Keep Florence Beautiful since its designation as a Keep America Beautiful affiliate in 2000, contributing in various capacities including marketing and organizational leadership. Since 2010, she has served as Board Chair and led the successful effort to secure 501(c)(3) nonprofit status for the organization. Her long-standing commitment to environmental stewardship and community improvement, along with her collaborative work with local and regional partners, brings experienced leadership to efforts focused on enhancing quality of life across Florence County.
Congrats, Michelle, and thank you for serving!
