Doing my part to try and protect our fisheries. Nice to see that their are other outfitters choosing to leave trout alone in freestones that are under low flow and temperature stress. As i take my dog swimming and try and cool off I still notice plenty of guides continuing to fish in the AM. They are monitoring river temperatures and angling during safe water temperatures, but the trout are still dealing with high water temperatures in the afternoon and we are currently in another high pressure heat pattern. Hopefully things will cool down later this week,. I will still guide on tailwaters that have good water temperatures. I will always continue to try and encourage outfitters and guides to give trout a break now and in the future during these times. Praying for rain and cooler temperatures.

Lower than normal flows and warming temperatures in several rivers in southwest Montana led Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks to initiate 'hoot-owl' restrictions Tuesday, limiting fishing to cooler hours.
