Next up on our Meet the Mangers Series is Donna!
Donna (Wolgamott) Schucker was born in Fremont, Michigan, at Ge**er Baby Food Hospital. She spent her childhood in Bitely, Michigan, before later moving to Grand Haven, where she graduated from high school. Donna went on to raise her six children in Fruitport, Michigan, where all of them graduated, and five continue to reside in the area today.
Donna devoted 27 years of her career to hospital pharmacy services, beginning as an IV technician. Through dedication and continued education, she became certified in chemotherapy preparation and eventually advanced to managing the hospital pharmacy. During her years in healthcare, she developed a strong passion for patient advocacy and ethical care.
After witnessing first-hand the extreme markup of a medication that was purchased for $1.64 and billed to a patient for $1,600, Donna decided it was time to pursue a different path—one that aligned more closely with her personal values and desire to help others directly.
She returned to school and earned her bachelor’s degree in human services, opening the door to a new chapter in public service and case management. Donna went on to work as a foster care worker for the State of Michigan, a case manager at a federal prison, and later as a case manager at a boys’ detention center. Her work throughout these roles reflected her commitment to advocacy, rehabilitation, and supporting individuals through difficult stages of life.
In August 2025, Donna joined Florence Health Services as the Life Enrichment Coordinator. In February 2026, she completed her certification as a Certified Activity Director, and her title was changed to Life Enrichment Specialist. In this role, Donna continues to focus on improving quality of life, creating meaningful experiences, and bringing joy and connection to those she serves.
Something Fun About Donna
One of Donna’s unique talents dates back to the 1990s, when job applications were completed entirely by hand. Over time, she became highly skilled at interpreting and evaluating cursive handwriting. Donna learned to identify personality traits such as introversion, extroversion, honesty, and communication styles simply by analyzing a person’s handwriting.
Although she says she is “a little rusty now,” Donna still enjoys looking at cursive signatures and sharing a few observations about the writer’s personality. She also once used this skill in pharmacy management to help place employees in work environments where personalities and communication styles complemented one another.
Bring Donna your signature in cursive writing, and she just might be able to tell you a few things about yourself.
