Infants' and Children's Clinic PC will be closed on Thursday, July 4th. As always, our nurse triage line and on-call physician will be available for urgent needs.

We hope that you have a safe and happy Fourth of July! It will be toasty outside so make sure to stay hydrated. Keep an eye on the kiddos around water and exploding things to prevent injuries! 🎇

We will be back in the office on Friday, July 5th. 🇺🇸

April is autism awareness month.

Did you know that 1 in 36 children in the US have autism?

Autism spectrum disorder is a neurodivergent disorder that causes difficulties with social communication/interaction and restricted/repetitive behaviors.

Autism can look different in different children and not every person with autism is severely affected. This can make diagnosis challenging!

The average age of diagnosis is 5 years old, but symptoms actually present much earlier. It can (and should!) be diagnosed as early as possible.

At Infants’ and Children’s Clinic, we screen every child at their 2 year old check up for autism using the M-CHAT. This screening tool helps identify children who may have autism spectrum disorder.

We want to see your child any time you have concerns they may not be developing typically for age! We can assess your child, discuss the “norm”, and determine if their skills are appropriate for age.

If they are not meeting milestones, we will start the process to set them up with therapy (occupational/speech/physical). If there are concerns for autism, we will refer them to a developmental specialist for further evaluation.

See the link below from Autism Speaks for an online version of the M-CHAT.

Call our office if you have concerns about your child. We are here to help! ❤️
