That's why we are here, and we want the men in our program to receive the blessings of that promise; because we ourselves have the experience of it. We've been where our guys are and we want them to have a taste of freedom. Thank you everyone for your support! If you have an opportunity help spread the message this month that recovery is possible, there are 12 step meetings happing everywhere just Google to find one. And if you or a loved one needs additional-long term help, we are here.

I saw this meme going around and it's cute, and at first I thought it was funny because the dogs took it on themselves to demand a treat. But then, the more I saw it I thought, what if the human told them to do this and was making them wait. This not only applies to us jn recovery, but also for the non-addict. When we have a need and pray/meditate, sometimes the answer is keep doing the work and trust the process. My higher power knows how long I can hold that pose before falling. Will I trust in a power greater than me and the process and design for living that was given to me for whatever outcome is ahead?

One of the keys to successful recovery is understanding that addiction is a disease. It is not a moral failing or a lack of willpower, and it is not a sign of weakness. Addiction changes the brain in ways that make it difficult to quit using drugs or alcohol, even when you want to.

But just as addiction changes the brain, recovery can restore it to health. With proper support and guidance, you can rebuild your brain's ability to make healthy decisions and resist the urge to use drugs or alcohol.

Recovery from drug addiction is a challenging and difficult journey, but it is also a truly inspirational one. One of the most inspiring things about recovery is that it demonstrates the incredible resilience and strength of the human spirit.

People who have struggled with addiction often face intense physical and emotional challenges as they work to overcome their dependence on drugs. Despite these difficulties, they are able to find the courage and determination to face their problems head-on and take the steps necessary to reclaim their lives.

Through the process of recovery, people with addiction learn to confront and overcome their fears and self-doubt, develop healthy coping mechanisms, and rebuild their relationships with loved ones. They also gain a newfound appreciation for life, recognizing the beauty and value of each moment and working to create a brighter future for themselves and those around them.

Perhaps most importantly, recovery from addiction shows that no matter how deep one may fall into the grips of addiction, there is always hope for healing and transformation. With the right support, resources, and mindset, anyone can overcome addiction and reclaim their lives.

The journey of recovery from addiction is an inspiring reminder of the resilience, strength, and potential for growth within all of us. It is a testament to the incredible power of the human spirit and the God of our understanding to overcome adversity and find New Hope and meaning in life.

Promises was founded on a few simple principles one of those key principles is that money should never be a hindrance to getting treatment for addiction. To achieve this goal we have decided to setup a scholarship program for those in need. This program would allow individuals seeking help to enter the program with no money up front. If you or someone you know needs help with addiction or alcoholism please don't hesitate to contact us here or via phone at 843-536-6155. Help is available.

Just went to a meeting where the topic was Step 1 and/or dealing with Resentments. I felt it odd that no one tied the two topic alternatives together. I admitted I was powerless over(insert substance here) when I came in. But I practice step 1 and powerlessness by accepting other people as they are and my inability to have power over them. In other words, if I remain in a position where I do not attempt to fix, manage, and control others or their actions, I remain in a position of neutrality to other people's s**t. I figured out in my time 'out there', that I'm powerless over the substance. I continue to practice powerlessness as I deal with others. Pause when agitated, ask God for intuitive thought, and saying the sick person prayer. Perhaps some people are just awful. I was and can be. Practice makes us better, practicing regular inventory makes us better, and sharing that inventory makes us better.

Surrender, true surrender, doesn't just look like letting go of the drugs and alcohol. It's complete surrender of my will. In every aspect of my life. Even in relationships. We were master manipulators - puppeteering the show. The maestro, the conductor - the mother fu**er in charge. My hands were all over everything. I took 'ownership' to a entire new level. So why would I be surprised that my life was a complete s**t show? Daily surrender of my will, begging God to take control of all of it. Taking my hands off - completely - is a process.

Yes, asking each morning that I be divorced from selfish and manipulative motives to get what I want, but I goes deeper. All the way to be divorced from what I think, no, believe that I NEED. How about let me be divorced from ungratefulness? Now I have to start looking at why I believe I need these things. True surrender for me looks like praying that loneliness turns to solitude, boredom to service, and despair to self-examination and meditation. Nightly inventory is not a suggestion but a mandate. Add free writing in a journal to unlock sub-conscious parts of the mind. The journey only begins with the stopping of the using.

In recovery, I've found that left to my own devices, I suck at running my life. Recovery teaches me how to tap into and rely on my higher power to guide each step, and to keep me clean. I heard this today, let it hit where it hits...

"God change my mind about everything on which you and I don't already agree. "

When I seek, I will find. No need to be perfect, the power is in the seeking-the humility of the seek I can say that with certainty because at every turn it has been proven to me.
