There is still time in 2025 to give HOPE.

For Gray Covington of McColl, HOPE now has a new meaning. In March 2023, she was diagnosed with Stage 1 Triple Positive breast cancer. The year to come would include surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, and numerous hours spent at the McLeod Center for Cancer Treatment and Research.

McLeod Health Volunteer Services hosted their annual Holiday Tea, a festive afternoon filled with tea, delicious desserts and heartfelt recognition.

More than 80 volunteers were in attendance as we honored their years of dedicated service. We’re so grateful for everything they do to support our patients, families and staff.

They surprised our patients and staff with holiday goodies and made a meaningful donation to support our Child Life Activity Center.

On Tuesday, the McLeod Fellows learned about McLeod Children’s Hospital. The class heard from Rebecca Vincent, Vice President of Women’s and Children’s Services; McLeod Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Al Gilpin; Leslie Rogers, Director of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit; McLeod Neonatologist Dr. Doug Moeckel and Cory Prescott, Child Life Specialist.

The Fellows also toured the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit as well as the Child Life Activity Center.

McLeod Fellows, organized by the McLeod Health Foundation, is a chance for community leaders to get a behind-the-scenes look at medicine and to explore the complex issues driving healthcare today.

Our Coastal McLeod Foundation Fellows are dedicated community leaders investing their time to better understand the challenges in healthcare and how McLeod is working to meet them.

This month, our Fellows heard from Donna Isgett, President and CEO of McLeod Health; Dr. Glenn Gangi with McLeod Urology Associates; and Lesli McGee, Chief Strategy Officer and Senior Vice President of Continuum of Care. They shared information on the continuum of care at Carolina Forest.

The group also toured the Ambulatory Surgery Center with Beth Hicks, Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer as well as Pediatric Physical Therapy with Elizabeth Rose, Director of Rehabilitation Services for McLeod Health Seacoast and McLeod Health Carolina Forest.
