The VLB Texas State Veterans Homes provide affordable, long-term nursing care for Texas Veterans, their spouses and Gold Star parents. Conveniently located across Texas, each first-class facility is designed to enhance quality of life with a clean, caring and dignified setting appropriate to those men and women who have served our country with honor. Ombudsman Resource Information: A long-term care ombudsman helps residents and family members of a skilled nursing facility resolve complaints. Help provided by an ombudsman is confidential and free of charge. To speak with an ombudsman, a person may call the toll-free number 1-800-252-2412.

🚨 Applications are currently being accepted for residency at the Frank M. Tejeda Texas State Veterans Home in Floresville.

This home is a long-term care residence with specialized memory support that can accommodate up to 160 eligible Veterans, spouses, and Gold Star Parents in Texas.

All of our Texas State Veterans Homes are Texas-owned and regulated by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

The VLB has an on-site representative in each home to ensure our distinguished long-term residents get the best possible care.

Last month, the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo recognized two Frank M. Tejeda Texas State Veterans Home residents, Billy Hight and Victoria Franco, for their service during the Korean War.

Thank you to the San Antonio Rodeo for their hospitality to our Veterans and thank you to our Veterans for their service!

Texans, let's show some love to our Veterans this Valentine's Day! ❤️

Commissioner Buckingham is encouraging everyone to participate in the VLB's "Valentines for Vets" campaign.

Help us honor and show our appreciation to the brave men and women who served our country by mailing a Valentine's card to the Veterans who reside in any of the 10 Texas State Veterans Homes.

All cards should be postmarked by February 10th and include 'Valentines for Vets' in the mailing address.

This week, Texas VLB had the privilege to visit the Frank M. Tejeda Texas State Veterans Home in Floresville and interview three amazing Veterans for our Voices of Veterans Program. While there, we did a walking video tour of the home with On-site Representative and U.S. Navy Veteran Levi Koepp to highlight the benefits of living in a Texas State Veterans Home. This year, we're proud to partner with the Wilson County Veterans Service Office to conduct a toy drive supporting local foster children!

Our home is a drop-off location where you can donate new, unwrapped toys to support the cause.

This week, we hosted trick-or-treaters from a local daycare facility, and our Veterans also had the opportunity to trick-or-treat themselves.

We want to thank all the organizations that came out this week to celebrate Halloween with our Veterans!

Happy 103rd Birthday to WWII U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran Sergeant Antonio Carrizales! 🎉

Mr. Carrizales served as an aircraft mechanic with the 326th Fighter Group.

He currently resides at the Frank M. Tejeda Texas State Veterans Home in Floresville, where it is truly our honor and privilege to care for him.

Some of our Veterans at the Frank M. Tejeda TSVH were special guests at the Alamo and were treated to a guided tour, where they learned all about the events that occurred at our Shrine of Texas Liberty.

They also got to see the special exhibit currently on display, which includes the original stunt bicycle from the movie "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure."

Our Veterans want to thank the Alamo staff for the hospitality and a wonderful visit!

Last week, in honor of National Purple Heart Day, the Frank M. Tejeda Texas State Veterans Home recognized the sacrifices of our three residents who were awarded the Purple Heart during their time in service.

US Army CPL(T) Billy Hight served as an infantryman from October 11, 1951, to July 13, 1953, and was awarded his Purple Heart for injuries sustained from combat operations in the Korean War.

US Army SP4(T) Pedro Villareal Jr. served as an infantryman from February 16, 1968, to July 23, 1969, and was awarded his Purple Heart for injuries sustained from combat operations in the Vietnam War.

US Army LTC Patrick Feely first served as a Special Forces medic from July 1, 1968, to January 23, 1975.

He was then promoted to Warrant Officer 4 from January 24, 1975, to February 3, 1992, and finished his career as a Physician Assistant from February 4, 1992, until his retirement on January 31, 2000, earning the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

He was awarded his Purple Heart for injuries sustained in combat operations in the Vietnam War.

Last week, the Frank M. Tejeda Texas State Veterans Home had the privilege of hosting a group consisting of Kerr and Bandera County Veteran Service Offices and leadership from the Texas Veterans Commission.

They graciously brought goodie bags for all of the residents, and we gave them a tour of our home while explaining how we care for all of our Veterans.

The TVC also recognized Jenna Sanchez, Kerr County VSO, with the TVC Excellence Award.

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit our home and spend time with our staff and Veterans!

On Saturday, we had a special celebration for the Army's 250th Birthday here at the Frank M. Tejeda Texas State Veterans Home!

Thank you to the Daughters of the American Revolution San Antonio De Bexar Chapter and the Sons of the American Revolution San Antonio Chapter for coming out to provide the ceremony and recognize our Veterans.

Our Veterans from Frank Tejeda Texas State Veterans Home and the Texas VLB Outreach team celebrated U.S. Army Day at The Alamo today. Our Veterans were officially recognized for their service during the ceremony, and treated to a special, guided tour of the Alamo Church, grounds, and Ralston Family Collections Center. We are very grateful to the entire Alamo team for taking care of our Veterans!
