Job well done to our student on completing her clinical rotation with us! She did a tremendous job building strong relationships and providing high-quality care to the patients she worked with. We were lucky to have her as part of our team these past 10 weeks. Kristin wrapped up her time with an in-service presentation on ACL return-to-sport, a thoughtful and informative session that highlighted the knowledge and growth she gained during her time here. Thank you Kristin, and best of luck with boards!

Our very own Dr. Carmen Sclafani was recently published in the International Journal of Sports Physical Therapy for his work on upper extremity strength testing in quarterbacks using the ASH Test and wireless force plates. This test, already validated in other overhead sports like baseball and rugby, was explored in NCAA D1 quarterbacks as a way to assess shoulder strength in throwing-specific positions. The findings support using this tool to track force output, identify asymmetries, and inform return-to-play and readiness decisions.

Here’s one of our clinical students demoing the test in our Chatham NJ clinic! We will use the ASH with our overhead athletes, when we think it’s necessary, throughout different phases of rehab, to collect objective data that helps inform our programming and decisions.

While the data it provides is not the only piece of the puzzle, it’s definitely valuable, and we’re excited to continue “experimenting” in the clinic with our plates to level up care for our athletes!

Getting to watch an athlete play the sport they love after one ACL rehab is awesome, getting to watch them play after two ACL rehabs is incredible. It takes a special type of person to stay committed, focused, and dedicated to the 8-10 month process of getting back on the field. To stay committed and to do what it takes twice while showing up every day with a smile is what puts in rare air. I am always grateful for the trust athletes and their families place in us to get them back on the field but ultimately it is on the athlete themselves to put in the effort needed to be better than they were before. I couldn’t be more proud of Sloane and am excited to see her wrap up her high school season this weekend before playing at Bucknell next year!

A bittersweet farewell 💪🏼
Congratulations to on finishing up his last rotation with us and going on to graduate and take his boards next week. Tommy has become a huge part of the Resilient fam and crushed it from day 1. We have no doubt you will go on to be an amazing Physical Therapist. We appreciate all of your hard work and so do every single one of the patients here. You will be missed tmazz!

Tyler Fontan is a performance-based physical therapist specializing in injury rehabilitation while optimizing athletic development and performance. As a former soccer player, he understands the physical demands of high-level competition and the importance of a well-rounded, individualized approach to injury recovery. His passion for strength and conditioning is seamlessly integrated into his treatment approach, helping clients not only regain function but also enhance their overall fitness— all while minimizing downtime and maximizing confidence in their return to doing what they love.

Tyler earned his B.S. in Business Administration & Marketing from Ramapo College and his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from Marist University. During his doctoral training, he completed clinical rotations specializing in sports medicine with Resilient Performance Physical Therapy and EXOS. These experiences provided him the opportunity to work directly with top-ranked athletes from PGA, MLS, NCAA, CFL, and NFL, as well as active-duty military personnel and FBI agents.
