A physician pursuing her dream

I was born and raised in Queens, NY. I am the eldest daughter of immigrant parents who worked to instill Chinese values of education and hard-work in me and my brother. I went to the Bronx HS of Science where I met amazingly smart and talented young adults that really began to inspire a younger me to be smarter, to work harder, and to achieve more! Dream bigger. At Barnard College, I met a now fellow physician mom and pathologist who dreamed of being a doctor. It was the first time I even thought of medicine. Naturally being at Barnard, I was drawn to women’s health and awareness after all, strong women are cultivated here. I went to SUNY-Buffalo for medical school and later to Beth Israel in New York for OB/GYN residency.

When I was in high school when I started dreaming of what I would be when I grew up, I always dreamed of being a journalist, but it seems as life would have it that I became a physician first. This page is me, starting on that second dream of reaching people through media and print. I hope to put myself out here in a way I have never done before in the hopes that my background, experience, professional and personal thoughts and opinions will help others and inspire them to pursue not only their own dreams, but also to help constantly strive to improve the world we all live in.
