Did you know? It’s worth getting your eyes checked!

May is Ocular Melanoma Awareness month and the Eye on Grace Foundation would like to share information to highlight something often neglected and overlooked.

Ocular Melanoma is a rare and aggressive cancer that begins in the eye—but it doesn’t always stay there. Unlike many other cancers, it spreads through the bloodstream, not the lymphatic system. Because of this, it has a strong tendency to travel silently through the body.

Tragically, about 50% of patients will develop metastasis, most commonly to the liver. At this time there is no curative option. This is why ongoing monitoring and research are so critical.

Awareness matters. Early detection, regular scans, and continued support for research can make a difference in outcomes and in hope for the future.

You can make a difference in helping raise money for both research and the need for people with OM to travel for treatment.
