My new favorite accessory. Thankful to receive my second vaccine dose this morning!
Tonight, after receiving a single shot in my arm, I express thanks beyond these words. When your opportunity comes, please consider receiving the COVID vaccine. I have worked in ICUs. More importantly, I have been an ICU patient. You do not want a tube down your throat, drains coming out of your body, multiple IVs, drugs that keep you paralyzed, and several blood draws a day. While I am eternally thankful for the surgeons and ICU staff who kept me alive, I don’t ever want that experience again. In fact, I would rather grow a tail or have an adverse reaction. Hello Patients!
We miss you and are looking forward to getting back in the office! We feel it is important to keep you updated as we find out new information. As of today, our governing societies and have mandated that all (non-urgent) cosmetic procedures be postponed until further notice. Please understand that some elective surgeries are indeed urgent, such as those related to newly diagnosed cancer or trauma. We understand you are eager to have your cosmetic procedures; however, it is important that we protect the safety of our patients and staff. In the meantime, we encourage you to utilize Telemedicine appointments. Telemedicine appointments allow Dr. Teotia or Belinda Hobaugh, RN to meet with you virtually using your computer, iOS or android. Please contact our office if you are interested in booking an appointment.
We think of our patients as family. We realize that most of you feel unprepared and stressed by the current situation. We do too! However, we have compiled a list of ideas and resources that may help. Please take comfort in the fact that we are all in this together.
STAY SAFE
MASKS
Please stay home. If you are forced to leave your apartment or house, then consider wearing a mask. There has been conflicting information as to whether wearing masks is necessary. Frankly, wearing a mask can’t hurt. (Perhaps I’m more comfortable with the concept as a surgeon.) However, masks are desperately needed at hospitals…so make your own! Get out your needle and thread and click these links to learn how:

HAND SANITIZER
Hand washing with soap and water is imperative. If you have times when you are not near a sink, then carry your own alcohol based sanitizer. Belinda Hobaugh, RN made her own. Follow the recipe that she suggests below:
https://www.thespruce.com/make-your-own-homemade-hand-sanitizer-606145
GROCERY SHOPPING
If you don’t have to squeeze the melons yourself, then consider a delivery service. Instacart, PrimeNow, Whole Foods and many others offer either delivery or pick-up services. Regardless, consider wiping down your groceries and packages before you bring them inside your home. The COVID-19 virus is mostly transmitted from person to person, but it does live on surfaces.
FINANCIAL RESOURCES
Many lenders are changing their terms based on the COVID-19 situation. Give yourself breathing room by calling your mortgage lender, credit cards, etc. If you have used Care Credit in our office, please contact the company (https://www.carecredit.com/). They have promised to work with plastic surgery patients to lessen the payment burden.
MENTAL HEALTH
Isolation takes a toll. Take walks outside (just keep your distance from others) and communicate with other people. Now is the time to reach out to the friend you have not seen in 20 years ago. Facetime and Zoom cocktail parties are the rage. We also suggest staying informed but limiting your news intake. If you are feeling desperate, please contact the practice. We are here to help.
GIVE TO THOSE WHO HAVE LESS
If you have a job or feel secure in your retirement, then count yourself lucky. Look around you and help those who are hurting. The following Dallas organizations are asking for help. If you live outside Dallas, then please explore how you can assist your community. At the very least, give your postal worker or grocery store clerk a homemade mask!

Despite our doors being closed, we remain committed to our patients. We will keep you updated regarding the “opening” of the practice. For now, we are excited to offer video telemedicine patient consults. Please stay home. Stay safe. We look forward to seeing you when this passes.
Sincerely,
Dr Teotia and Staff

Now offering complimentary video consultations! This is available for follow up visits also. Call today to schedule!
The Dallas county wide Shelter in Place order begins at 11:59 pm today and extends through April 3. At this time, patient appointments will be booked after this date.
Thank you for your flexibility during these unknown times.
Due to the escalating transmission of COVID-19, I made the difficult decision to closed the practice. All staff members remain available; however, they are working from home. I will re-evaluate the situation on April 1.
Please continue to call or email the practice to book future appointments. While the practice is closed, new consults and follow ups may use telemedicine methods.
The Surgeon General of the United States has asked for all elective surgeries to cease. I have complied with this request. Unfortunately, no one knows when this decision will be reversed. If you are contemplating surgery or have scheduled, please know that it will eventually happen.
We all must do what we can to reduce viral transmission and enhance our nation's ability to care for those desperately ill from the disease. Public health experts unanimously agree that our window to dampen the spread of COVID-19 is a narrow one that will soon close. Please stay in place and stay healthy.
UPDATE:
Given the progression of the COVID-19 virus, our office is presently taking the following precautions:
All patients are asked to wash their hands upon entry into the office.
All visitors accompanying patients are asked to stay in their car rather than entering the office.
Books, magazines and drinks (Keurig machine, etc) have been removed to reduce cross contamination risks.
Presently, most hospitals are postponing elective surgery. The clinic minor operating room remains open. We will decide whether or not to operate on patients on a case by case basis.
Non urgent follow ups are asked to reschedule their appointments after April 1.
Facetime or phone appointments are an option for new consults and established patients. Please let the practice know if you would prefer to have your appointment via telemedicine.
Due to the recent rapid spread of the Coronavirus we are taking the following precautions:
•Providers are now required to wear face masks during your visit.
•Providers will only treat healthy patients. If you are feeling ill, please contact our office to reschedule your appointment.
•Patients and staff must wash hands upon entering the practice.
•Staff members who are ill are not allowed within the practice. Staff must be clear of all symptoms before returning to work.
•Administrative areas and restrooms are wiped down multiple times a day with a medical-grade cleaner.
Our staff routinely follows all OSHA guidelines to cleanliness and sterility. We will continue to wipe down exam rooms and surgical suites with medical-grade cleaner, before and after each patient. Staff will also continue washing their hands before and after each patient. Gloves are always worn when direct patient contact is necessary.
During this time, our focus is on the safety of our patients.
Presentation time!
