Nearly every person has some form of postural imbalance; these can occur from driving, sitting at a desk, moving heavy objects, carrying a purse, sleeping in weird positions, etc. Some of us struggle with headaches, others have back pain. Something as simple as a sprained ankle, long since healed, can cause a chain reaction that ends up as chronic low back or shoulder pain... or worse. Even a slight postural distortion, such as the common “forward” (slumped) posture, can result in POUNDS of extra pressure on the neck, spine, and lower back. People often complain of pain and tension in these areas. The muscles form knots in the front and back of the body, trying to stabilize the posture, but the results are not pleasant. Unless these postural problems/pain patterns are corrected, the pain will not go away.
