In my practice, I have seen several cases of RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) infection in elderly patients. RSV infection often mimics the symptoms of allergic rhinitis—presenting with cough, rhinorrhea, sneezing, and nasal congestion—which can easily be mistaken for a benign allergy.

Because RSV can cause severe lower respiratory illness, especially in adults over age 60 and those with chronic conditions, I routinely order the RSV vaccine for all my elderly patients, in addition to recommending annual influenza and updated COVID-19 vaccinations. This comprehensive approach is essential for protecting vulnerable adults against preventable respiratory infections and their complications.

It’s because people are deeply aware of their own biases and limitations. They don’t simply ignore their weaknesses; instead, they try to overcome them—by creating tools, inventing new technologies, and even developing artificial intelligence.
The greatness of humanity comes from this self-awareness and the constant effort to transcend one’s own shortcomings. That’s why I can’t help but love people.

🚫 Excessive Alcohol Use Damages Your Arteries
Did you know?
Drinking too much alcohol doesn’t just harm your liver—it directly damages your blood vessels (arteries) and dramatically increases your risk for heart attack and stroke.

How does alcohol hurt your arteries?
Acetaldehyde Toxicity: When you drink, your body converts alcohol into acetaldehyde, a toxic substance that acts as a glycating agent (like sugar), damaging artery walls and proteins.

Accelerated Atherosclerosis: Acetaldehyde and other alcohol byproducts cause arterial inflammation and help form artery-clogging plaques (atherosclerosis).

Are all high-fat diets harmful? Not really.

Recent immunology research shows that overconsumption of saturated fats suppresses the activity of ILC3 cells, a type of innate immune cell critical for gut health.

ILC3s produce IL-22, a cytokine that strengthens the gut barrier and protects against harmful bacteria.
However, when saturated fats are consumed excessively, IL-22 production decreases, leading to weakened gut lining, inflammation, and gut microbiome imbalance—all of which can contribute to diseases like obesity, diabetes, and cognitive decline.

But not all fats are created equal.
Healthy fats like those from olive oil, avocado, and nuts may actually support gut health by enhancing microbial diversity and reducing inflammation.
When combined with intermittent fasting, they may help restore immune balance and metabolic health.

1. Vitamin C is not the path. It is the light that illuminates the path.

Even those who take 1,000 mg, 5,000 mg, or even 10,000 mg daily may say,
“I’m fine.”
But that is only because the body is still capable of containing the madness.

🧬 "Is High-Dose Vitamin C Really Safe?"

📢 A major study found that even just 200 mg/day or more of vitamin C increased cardiovascular death in diabetic women.

Published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, this 15-year prospective study (Iowa Women’s Health Study) followed 1,923 postmenopausal women with diabetes.

📊 Key Findings:

Supplemental Vitamin C Intake Relative Risk (RR) of Cardiovascular Death
0 mg/day 1.00 (baseline)
100–299 mg/day 1.01
≥ 300 mg/day 1.69–2.37 (statistically significant)
The risk of stroke mortality more than doubled in the highest vitamin C supplement group​

⚠️ Important Notes:
Only supplements, not food-derived vitamin C, were associated with increased mortality.

This risk was not observed in non-diabetic women.

In short: Oranges are fine. Vitamin C pills in high doses are not.

Not according to science.

While vitamin C is essential for health, recent large-scale studies show that megadose vitamin C therapy (e.g., >1g/day or IV infusions) does not reduce cardiovascular mortality—and in some cases, it may even be harmful.

🔬 What the evidence says:

The Heart Protection Study (HPS), a massive randomized controlled trial, showed no reduction in cardiovascular deaths with antioxidant vitamin use (including vitamin C).
