It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I went against my medical doctors and never had back surgery. It changed my life! I was a happy Electrical Engineer in San Diego way back in 1984. Picture living the Southern California life. Wednesday was volleyball; head down to Torrey Pines State Beach right after work (a 10-minute drive). Play till dark, body surf to cool off, and then sit around a bonfire of wooden pallets till midnight. A great time with friends! Thursday was the golf league. We played at Torrey Pines (yes, the one you see on TV!) I can still see the Pacific Ocean on the 3rd hole, where it felt like you were trying to hit the ball into the deep blue. Add to that rollerblading in Mission Bay Park on the weekends. Every day was a perfect sunny 75-degree day.
The only problem was that my back was killing me!! I started to develop constant sciatica, and the only relief I got was when my leg would go numb and drop out on me. It was like my leg was gone! Getting up in the morning was agony. Rolling out of bed onto the floor and then pushing myself up using my arms. The pain and weakness meant I had to stop all the activities I loved to do. It finally reached a point where I went to see an M.D. After six months, I had a Neurosurgeon, an Orthopedic surgeon, a P.T., an Acupuncturist, and a massage therapist. And thanks to all their help, along with a lot of drugs, I was getting worse. The consensus was that surgery was the answer. I didn’t want surgery, but I kept getting worse!
Finally, I gave up and scheduled back surgery. I was desperate and out of options!
Then my world changed!
There was a teenage girl working where I did, part-time. Noticing I was in pain, she gave me a beat-up business card for her Chiropractor. Dr. David Libs in Pacific Beach. I had never heard of a Chiropractor, but what did I have to lose?
On that first momentous visit, my life was changed. I know now it was nothing special, just the usual consultation, examination, and X-rays. Yet it was so different from the other Doctors. I felt like a person, not an insurance card. He showed me the damage to my lower back and told me what he could do. Not a promise of a cure, just a chance of improvement. From the first adjustment, I felt different.
After a week of care, I postponed surgery. By the next month, I canceled surgery. To make a long story of recovery short, after six months I felt like 27 again. And something else changed. I found my calling. I enrolled in the Life College of Chiropractic, and 35 years later, I'm still in practice. But without the killing back pain.
This brings me to a special invitation.
Conditions like low back pain, headaches, sciatica, neck pain, and numbness are the body’s way of saying something is wrong. If left untreated, they can lead to chronic and severe pain. Because we're committed to helping the local Folsom community, we're offering a consultation, exam, and X-rays (if necessary) for only $47. This is normally valued at $495. We have helped many people with these conditions using safe and NON-SURGICAL methods. Call (916)536-0400 or visit the link below to sign up for an appointment:
