Looking at this photo, most people would think everything is great… Living up in Grass Valley on 12 acres cozy in our little cabin…… But this has been one of the most challenging times in my life!

After tearing my rotator cuff in April rescuing a goat from my dog Jax, I was told surgical intervention was the only way to repair the tear. I was not prepared mentally for the tough recovery… I have 95% improved mobility now… Four months after the surgery… But the possibility of nerve dysfunction was never mentioned.… If I had even known, there was a one percent chance that it could affect the nerve function in my injecting hand I would not have done the surgery…

The surgeon said it could take 6-24months for full recovery… Something I was not equipped for… My livelihood is my injection hand… So now I’m on disability for another 6 months… i’ve been in and out of depression throughout this experience. It’s become very clear the extremely small number of friends that I have… I don’t know whether people are just trying to respect my privacy by not reaching out, but it’s also become very isolating going through this pretty much alone… Except for my supportive husband and my furry babies.

If anyone wants to be supportive or help, meals are always welcome! Just trying to do small things like whipping eggs… tearing up pieces of lettuce… Meal prep in general is a struggle when you have dominant hand dysfunction. And trying to do chores… Holding onto a cleaning towel to clean windows is difficult… Pushing the vacuum I can do left-handed and I have transitioned many things into using my left hand, but it’s all so hard.

To say that this has been a humbling experience is putting it lightly… It took nine weeks before I got my first disability check and I used a local food bank that was recommended by a great service most people don’t know about… You just call 211 and they give you a list of help in your area.

Trying holistic and traditional ways to speed up nerve growth, and trying to be hopeful 🙏🏻 would love words of support and healing tips.

We are in need of a local and affordable business to check out our well… Pressure has been super low… And our official move-in date is January 18 so trying to get things accomplished before then for sure! And definitely want to support Local so put it out there… Any recommendations would be appreciated

Recommendations for: cell service, cable, WiFi in grass valley.

Also need a Ferrier for Wilbur the boar, for hoof and tusk care.

And new CPA and bookeeeper for my business and personal taxes…. It seems expensive for $1600 a year! And I feel lost without feedback from him to improve our tax situation…. We pay 6k to 8k a year for personal taxes 🙄🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

l am shocked by the number of people that I know right now with cancer, or undergoing the treatment of cancer... it truly does suck... I lost my beautiful stepmother a year ago on Mother's Day... And Sally said that she would step up and be my adopted mom... The truth is she has been kinder and has said more empowering and thoughtful things to me than my own bio mother, ever did 😢...

My stepmom was a ray of bright light and her life was definitely taken much too soon... It was hard with her living in Montana, but I tried to visit when possible... And the one good thing that came out of everything is my closer relationship with my sisters, Liz and Emily...Sally has made sure of that!
The last few get together's she was right there with us laughing... Getting a facial while watching silly movies on TV... And encouraging the bond between my sisters and myself. One thing that I learned working in ICU is that miracles happen every day... And I pray that one of those miracles will be being able to spend more time with Sally... As she said in a recent text message, "no matter what... Stay in close touch with family."
I hope you will take a second to pause, and reflect on memories of a loved one or extended family member that you have lost to this disease... Smile, and remember all the good things that they brought into your life... As I am trying to do... I still believe in miracles... And that we can make a difference!

I have a friend that adopted a pig that is in dire need of hoof care, and to have one of its tusks cut down or removed…the pig resides in Grass Valley. What job title  do I investigate for this task? I asked my veterinarian and she did not know.
