If you’re getting heartburn more than twice a week, it may be GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease)—not just occasional overeating.

Frequent reflux can irritate the esophagus over time, so it’s worth paying attention to how often it happens and how long it lasts.

If your symptoms are becoming regular or hard to manage, schedule a consultation to get answers and relief. 💙

Turning 45 is a milestone, and it’s also the new recommended age to start colon cancer screening.

Fun fact: when Sesame Street turned 45… Ernie got a colonoscopy. 😄

If you’re 45 or older, don’t put it off. Screening can detect issues early and can even prevent colon cancer by removing polyps before they become a problem.

If you notice your heartburn flaring up more during the holidays, you’re not imagining it.

Common seasonal triggers include rich or spicy foods, alcohol, chocolate, and eating late at night, especially when portions are bigger than usual.

A little indigestion can happen, but frequent reflux isn’t something to ignore. If heartburn becomes persistent or starts affecting your daily life, it may be time to get checked.

Schedule a consultation to find the cause and get lasting relief. 💙

WHAT IS GASTROENTEROLOGY MEDICAL CLINIC

Gastroenterology Medical Clinic (GMC) has served Folsom and the Western Slope of El Dorado County since 1985. We are a single specialty group limited to the treatment of diseases in the digestive tract and liver. At GMC you can rest assured that you will receive leading edge digestive health care delivered in a caring and respectful environment. Major innovations in technology have dramatically advanced the practice of gastroenterology, usually in favor of less invasive and safer techniques to treat disease. All of the physicians at our clinic are trained in the use of state of the art equipment when it comes to treating gastrointestinal and liver illness. At the same time, we practice “old fashioned” medicine by treating our patients with the utmost compassion and personalized care. Relationships are important to us, and that is why you will always see a doctor when you make an appointment at GMC. This combination of advanced technology coupled with a personalized treatment plan is the basis of our motto: “The Best Doctors. The Best Care.”
