A gastroscopy (or upper endoscopy) helps doctors examine the upper digestive tract and identify the cause of symptoms like persistent acid reflux, stomach pain, difficulty swallowing, unexplained weight loss, or signs of gastrointestinal bleeding.

Early diagnosis through endoscopy can help prevent complications and guide effective treatment.

If you’re experiencing ongoing digestive issues, talk to your doctor about whether a gastroscopy might be right for you.

They may sound like two separate procedures, but in reality, they’re the same test with different names!

👉 Upper Endoscopy is the term most commonly used in the U.S.
👉 Gastroscopy is more common in Europe and internationally.

Both refer to the same diagnostic procedure used by gastroenterologists to examine the upper digestive tract.

So, whether you see “endoscopy” or “gastroscopy” on your forms, rest assured, it’s the same trusted procedure. 💙
