Meet Athena! 👋🏻
The Lucas Ortho OG! Athena is a true crime ju**ie and loves shows like 48 Hours, Dateline, and other murder mysteries. Athena has been with Lucas Ortho since we opened in 2019 and is the clinical manager. In her free time, she cherishes spending time with her family and her close circle of friends. An interesting fact about Athena; years ago, she broke her hand while attempting a freeze pose handstand during a breakdancing session 🤣 but thankfully, her hands are all better now. Additionally, she’s a licensed lash artist who delights in making people feel good, and what could be a better way to achieve that than with long lashes and straight teeth?

🎤 Welcome to our TAD Talk! 😏
Not loving how much of your gums show when you smile? A small device called a TAD might be the game-changer you didn’t know you needed. 👇

🦷 What’s a TAD?
TADs (Temporary Anchorage Devices) are tiny titanium pins placed directly into the bone — usually between the roots of teeth or in other areas of the mouth that give us a solid anchor to move teeth with precision. It’s quick to place, totally safe, and removed once it’s done its job!

😁 How does a TAD help with gummy smiles?
Gummy smiles happen when too much upper gum tissue shows when you smile. In many cases, this is due to:
• Teeth that over-erupt
• The upper jaw sitting too low
• An imbalance between the lips and gums

💡 That’s where TADs come in:
They allow us to gently intrude (move up) the upper front teeth — lifting them into a more ideal position and reducing the amount of gum that shows when you smile. ✨

TADs, in conjunction typically with a gingivectomy (laser contouring of the gum tissue) give us a minimally invasive way to create a more balanced, confident smile, as you can see in these results! 👏

⭐️TRANSFORMATION TUESDAY⭐️

Another stunning transformation! 🤩 Our patient started out with her upper canines blocked out, severe crowding, and a deep bite. Our treatment consisted of braces, great elastic wear, a little shaping of the teeth, and a lot of personalized care to create this balanced, confident smile. The results speak for themselves! 😁
