As we gear up to celebrate, let’s make safety part of the fun. Whether you're lighting fireworks, grilling with friends, or hitting the water, here are a few quick tips to help keep your holiday weekend safe and memorable:

🔥 Firework Safety

-Never disassemble or attempt to make your own fireworks.

-Always keep a portable fire extinguisher nearby (Need one? Check out Tri-State Fire Protection Services).

-If a firework malfunctions, do NOT relight it. Soak it thoroughly with water before disposing.

🍔 Grill Safety

-Inspect gas grill hoses for cracks, holes, or leaks before using.

-Never grill indoors or in an enclosed space.

-Keep your grill at least 2 feet away from anything flammable—like siding, deck railings, or dry grass.

🌊 Water Safety

-Never drink alcohol while operating a boat.

-Always wear a properly fitted life jacket when in open water.

-Set clear pool rules for kids—and always keep an eye out.

🚨 Do You Know What to Do If Someone Is Unresponsive? 🚨
Every second counts. Follow these critical steps to respond quickly and effectively:

Step 1: Assess the Scene
Ensure the area is safe for you and the victim before approaching.

Step 2: Check for Responsiveness
Tap the person and shout, “Are you okay?” Look for any movement or reaction.

Step 3: Call for Help
Dial 911 immediately. If an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) is nearby, have someone retrieve it.

Step 4: Check for Breathing
Look, listen, and feel for normal breathing. If the person isn’t breathing or is breathing abnormally, act fast.

Step 5: Begin CPR or Use the AED
Start chest compressions immediately if there’s no normal breathing, and use the AED as soon as it’s available.

Due to the recent closures of Taylor and Crozer Hospitals and the increase in EMS response times, we are offering a limited number of FREE CPR classes to help our community stay prepared in an emergency.

🫀 These classes are open to the public and designed for anyone who wants to learn CPR — no experience needed!

📍 All classes will be held at our office in Folsom

👉 IMPORTANT:
Seats are VERY LIMITED! If you register and can’t attend, please let us know as soon as possible so we can open the seat back up.
If you need a certification for employment purposes, please contact our office. We’ll enroll you in a separate class, as these courses are intended for general public knowledge only.
