Comprehensive Physical Therapy, Inc. Outpatient Physical & Occupational Therapy Practice in Forest City, Hawley, Honesdale, Carbondale, & Dunmore. Therapy with a Smile!

"CPT" is an outpatient Physical and Occupational Therapy practice. Suzanne and Stephen Atcavage, both physical therapists, opened their first office at the Forest City location in 1997. Since 1997, the practice has expanded to five locations - Forest City, Hawley, Carbondale, Dunmore, and Honesdale. The practice is inspired by the goal to provide patient-focused care and the use of evidence-based

medicine to ensure the provision of effective, customized care, specific to each client's need. At CPT, the patient is NOT a number. Lymphedema care, sports medicine, Board Certified Hand Therapy, vestibular rehabilitation, concussion management, Parkinson's Disease programs and pelvic floor rehabilitation are among the specialty care services offered. A summary of CPT's expansive services can be found on this website.

🌟Our three pelvic floor therapists have extensive education to support their practice. The Wayne-Pike Parkinson’s Support Group will welcome Dr. David Ferrone, MD, on May 20th at 4:30pm.🔆Dr. Ferrone will be discussing “Advanced Therapy Options in Parkinson’s Disease” with our members & loved ones.

Dr. Ferrone is a board-certified & fellowship-trained functional neurosurgeon specializing in the surgical treatment of Parkinson’s disease, essential tremor, & dystonia. 🧠👨‍⚕️He is driven by the profound benefits of deep brain stimulation (DBS) for lowering medication dosage and reducing or eliminating Parkinson’s disease symptoms. He takes a collaborative approach with the patient and the neurologist to develop customized surgical solutions to improve mobility, independence, & quality of life. 💪

Join us in May in the David Katz Room (2nd Floor) at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale & learn from Dr. Ferrone. 📩 An RSVP to attend this presentation is appreciated. Please email Janene Dubois at dubois@wmh.org or Suzanne Atcavage at susieatc@cptrehab.net.

👉Let’s learn about the anatomy of the pelvic floor!

Male & female pelvic floor anatomy is essentially the same, with some minimal muscular differences. 🌟Each pelvic floor has 3 layers, with the center layer consisting mainly of fascia for support.

💁‍♂️The male pelvic floor supports the organs of the prostate, bladder, & colon, whereas 💁‍♀️the female pelvic floor supports the uterus, va**na, bladder, & colon.

At your initial evaluation, a certified pelvic floor therapist will determine if your pelvic floor is considered "too tight" or "too loose."

"Too tight" is referred to as a hypertonic pelvic floor, and "too loose" is called a hypotonic pelvic floor. It is much more common for a pelvic floor to be "too tight." In these situations, Kegels are not always a solution!!
