Mavis Eymann, 95, died January 11, 2026, at Waterford Crossing, Goshen, Indiana, where she had resided the last year, to be near her daughter.

A memorial service for Mavis will be held this spring at her beloved Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City, where she was an active member for more than 75 years. Details will be posted here when they are finalized.

Thomas C. Paul, 79, of Forest City, passed away on January 7, 2026 at his home under the care of Joyce, his wife and St. Croix Hospice.

A gathering to celebrate Tom’s life will be held on Sunday, January 11, 2026 from 2:00-4:00 PM at Schott Funeral Home, 505 N. Clark St, Forest City, IA 50436. Forest City American Legion Post 121 will be performing military honors at 4:00 PM.

Burial of cremains will take place at a later time with his family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Tom Paul memorial fund in care of the family.

Richard D. Block, 90, of Mason City, formerly of Thompson, Iowa, passed away on January 4, 2026 at IOOF Home in Mason City surrounded by his family.

Funeral services for Richard will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at the First Reformed Church in Buffalo Center, IA, with Pastor Sue Shike officiating. Military Honors will be performed by the Buffalo Center American Legion.

A visitation for Richard will be held on Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until the start of the service at 11:00 A.M. at the church.

Interment will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Betty Lou Burdette, 91, of Forest City, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026 at the Good Samaritan Society in Forest City under the care of MercyOne North Iowa Hospice.

Betty will be cremated and no services are planned at this time.

Merle Richard Robinson, age 93, of Forest City passed away on December 31, 2025 at the Good Samaritan Center in Forest City, Iowa. He had been a resident of the Care Center for the past few months.

He will be cremated and the family will be having a celebration of his life in the Spring of 2026 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Thompson, Iowa.

🎄Fertile Fire Department will having their annual lighted Christmas parade around town tomorrow Saturday, December 20th @ 6pm 🧑‍🎄 they will leave the Fire Department and head West on Washington St and do the loop around town.

🚒 After the parade come to the fire hall for pictures with Santa and other guests and also have some hot chocolate and cookies. 🍪.

There is also a lighted display in the Fertile park from 6-8pm free will donation. ☃️
