I wrote this and posted in a local Facebook group because it just needed to be said.
I’m sharing here because y’all will understand so clearly and y’all may even recognize some of the therapists.
🩷☕️ I’m going to shoot straight with y’all because something is on my heart.
A few days ago, a woman asked for recommendations for “ deep tissue massage that doesn’t break the bank” and along with recommendations some people made remarks about another business saying that they had terrible experiences there.
A therapist suggested they “ table hop” and try other therapists and this is what you gotta do sometimes.
When you go into a massage establishment with several therapists, it’s like going into a restaurant that serves a variety of food.
If you don’t like hot dogs, you don’t order them at Wells Cattle Co. Burgers & Pies, but you don’t go bashing the entire restaurant because it has hot dogs. Maybe you’ll love the Green Chili Burger, or the Classic Cheeseburger or maybe you want the loaded up Monster burger with cheese fries.
Thing is, every massage therapist has their unique touch and way of working with clients.
I know Anna Baker of Rockwall Medical Massage- she’s a friend, a mentor, and a damn good massage therapist and business woman but she can’t clone herself and even she isn’t the right therapist for everybody.
She has a team- a menu, if you will- of qualified massage therapists and sometimes you may find that the one that’s best for you is not the first one you tried.
Kinda like ordering a Mushroom Swiss burger and thinking it’s “okay” but not your favorite. Maybe you’re really a Hot Ranch burger woman, after all.
And that’s okay, that is actually more than okay, it’s pretty good to know what you want and what’s your favorite is but every once in awhile, it’s good to try something new and different.
If you don’t like it, then tell the manager or the owner, and maybe they’ll suggest a different burger..I mean, therapist, but you can also just not order that one item, or the same therapist again.
You might find that you really do like hot dogs, after all, if they are grilled just right and served with hatch green chili sauce.
Who knows?
Maybe you’ll prefer a Thai session with someone else, a relaxing session with Brandy Lancione and then see another one like Dani Warren Hudspeth for gentle, effective cranial work.
The thing is at her place like at Lee Wells restaurant, there’s something and someone for everybody.
And if you really want to make it special, get you some cobbler with a scoop of vanilla ice cream… I mean, add some aromatherapy and hot stones.
Just don’t knock the whole place because you don’t like one thing.
🩷I started pondering this while in the hyperbaric chamber at SJTPT. I did NOT like the first or second times I went. I actually cried.
Today, after this photo was taken, I laid down and napped with the lights OFF!
This is absolutely proof that sometimes you just gotta try again and again to find the things you like - whether it’s the massage therapist, the burger or the hot dog… or the hyperbaric chamber under the watchful eye of @ Shawn Jordan.
