Good morning! God has been at work in my life and has been teaching me to say yes to Him. In all things. Small things. Big things. Jesus wants my yes.

Back in December, God spoke words to me during prayer at Crosswalk Community Church. He said to help people who were waiting, homeless, hurting. To take the blessing of Creative Spirits and set up an art studio for them. However, I didn’t know where this was to be.

I talked to my pastors and they recommended that I visit the Union Gospel Mission and talk to the new CEO, Eric Weber. I grew up in Sioux Falls and have raised a family in the Sioux Falls area,
but I had never once been to the Union Gospel Mission.

So I said yes. Scheduled a tour. On that tour is when I discovered 50+ men waiting in the day room. God smiled at me when my light bulb went on. We kept touring over at the women’s center. I walked into a room that was so gorgeous and my favorite teal color. I knew that space was meant to be cleaned, cleared, and converted to the art studio for the homeless population.

At that moment, I had no idea how big God’s plan was. I still don’t. What I do know is that He has taken care of every detail (even during a pandemic) to make room for all people to come to His table to heal.

I just closed the door at the 41st Street location, but God continues to open doors. Please join me at the 701 E. 8th Street location. You can see what God is doing—He is on the move in a mighty way to help restore hope to the hurting, to heal the lost, to give rest for the weary. Creative Spirits has become more than I ever imagined. Not because of me but because of God.

I will be updating the calendar with open paint opportunities and other events. One important detail—out of respect for the people who are recovering from addictions—there can be no alcohol brought into this location. If you would like to have wine at your painting event, then we can do a mobile event. As always you are welcome to use the Spirit Lake, Iowa studio location, too.

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT !!

It is with great excitement we announce the sale of Creative Spirits to Heather Craig of Heather Rain LLC. We have devoted the past year on the redesign of the business model elements of the Creative Spirits we purchased in May 31, 2018. We re-tooled the operations to position it for growth. We also modified Creative Spirits from the very well-known paint and sip it had become in a five-state plus area, to a fully-operating creative and mobile studio with a focus on Inspiring, Igniting, and Creating! We added to the original paint and sip concept events: new mediums, new projects, self-development and awareness programs (Brene’ Brown & Gallup StrengthsFinders), expanded kids programs, team building innovation events, devotion and creative church events, creative exploration open paints, art therapy for grief and recovery, and new family focused events. All to advance creativity, an essential component to wholehearted wellbeing at every age.

We are excited to advance the work we’ve completed by transitioning it to an accomplished artist, educator, and creative development expert to now take it to the next level. She has a diverse background to advance the unique aspects of the studio while still focusing on fun and memory making at important times in our customer’s lives (weddings, births, birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, and celebrations) and on any given day! She will continue to offer a fun and “safe” place in her events for people of all ages to experiment with their creativity while being supported by trained professionals when desired.

Please join us in welcoming Heather to this exciting and amazing opportunity to play in a creative space without boundaries, by reaching out to see what she has to offer or just by dropping in or registering for one of the engaging classes she will be offering soon! A SUPER FUN Kids Drop-Off Parents Night Out last night Spirits Sioux Falls! We completed some new kids projects (poured paint frames and piggy banks), listened to music, snacked, drank lemonade, and created two more projects each!
