Looks like healthcare is about to take a step in the right direction. For physical pain, see a manual therapist first. If they can't help you in a few treatments they should refer you to who can.
Big News! Please Share, this needs to take place across the country.
The governor of West Virginia signed a bill last week making it the law that MDs must refer their pain patients to either a Chiropractor or physical therapist before they can prescribe opioids AND any insurance company doing business in WV must have Chiropractic coverage of at least 20 visits. It’s the First law like it in the country and will take effect in 90 days.
Our medical system is completely backwards when it comes to helping someone get healthy and especially out of pain. True health always comes from nutrition, exercise, mobility and lifestyle, not drugs. Yes, there is always a time and place for certain drugs, but it's definitely not when someone has general back pain and they haven't tried any of the things listed above.
This would have a major impact on the opioid epidemic, and a step on the right direction.
