🚨 VANA members, we need your urgent help today. 🚨

The Senate is considering SB 536, legislation that has been significantly expanded through recent amendments and now proposes sweeping changes to Virginia’s medical malpractice system that could have serious consequences for health care providers and patient access to care across the Commonwealth.

VANA is actively working with a broad coalition of health care provider organizations who are unified in opposition to this bill, including the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association and many other provider groups across the state.

Your voice as a CRNA and health care provider carries significant weight with lawmakers. A quick message from you can make a real difference. Take action to tell your legislators to VOTE NO on SB 536. ⬇️

The U.S. Department of Education has released its proposed rule classifying future CRNAs as “graduate students,” thereby capping their annual and aggregate federal unsubsidized loans. 🚨

It’s critical that as many individual providers and patients as possible make their voices heard. Please submit a comment by March 2nd and encourage your friends, family, and colleagues to do the same. ⬇️

The U.S. Department of Education has now released its proposed rule classifying future CRNAs as “graduate students,” thereby limiting them to $100,000 in federal unsubsidized student loans. AANA will be submitting formal comments to the Department of Education, but it is critically important tha...

The first thing Dr. Cathy Harrison notices when a child walks into the dental office isn’t their chart. It’s their fear.

After 25 years of providing dental anesthesia and more than 40 years as a CRNA, she knows many of her young patients have already had difficult medical experiences. Some have autism. Some have developmental delays. Some are simply scared.

For many children, dental care wouldn’t be possible without anesthesia. Dr. Harrison shares how she slows down, adapts her care, and rebuilds trust: https://www.aana.com/news/the-compassionate-work-of-a-crna-in-dentistry/

🚨 The U.S. Department of Education (DOE) proposed a rule that would reclassify future CRNAs as graduate students, capping federal unsubsidized loans at $20,500/year and $100,000 total, an annual cap that is not in alignment with actual tuition costs. As many CRNAs know firsthand, the cost of completing your education and training is high.

The DOE’s reclassification also removes the professional degree category for CRNAs. This change could also significantly affect the CRNA pipeline at a time when we’re already facing a shortage of anesthesia providers across Virginia. Fewer CRNAs means reduced access to anesthesia care, especially in rural and underserved communities.

The AANA’s statement on the proposed rule is open for public comment until March 2nd. Please provide your personalized comments on the proposed rule using AANA’s submission form at https://bit.ly/4tHKoDh. 🚨
