If anyone drives by my place of business and sees I'm no longer there, it is not because I have retired. I have moved my office and have joined the ranks of those who work from home.
Why has this happened you may ask? Well, because I will be temporarily retiring after the first of the year in order to have some pretty involved surgery to fix my spine that has decided to basically fold in on itself. In the past two years the rollercoaster curves of my scoliosis have rapidly increased to the point that if I do not have surgery, I will have major organ problems and things like that. I have one curve that is 47° and the other is 59° and in-between the curves my spine twists. Kind of like a DNA strand. Along with that, they will perform a laminectomy also to correct the Stenosis that I also have. I believe I will have rods down my entire spine or most of it.
Please, do not feel sorry for me (if you do.) This operation will save me. It will be a long recovery, they say 1 to 2 years but during that time I will be making myself into a better physical version of myself so that hopefully I will be able to continue my work as a Licenced Massage Therapist. Honestly, I can not imagine doing anything else. Yet if I have to do something else for work, I can promise it will be something that allows me to help others feel good, be happy, smile, etc.
I was going to wait to mention the surgery but figured I would just put it all out there. And if anyone has any questions for me please, ask them. Most of you know if you ask, I will tell. I'm an open book with life experiences. I mean if we don't share, how can we help others. And with that being said, if anyone has any experience with major back surgeries similar to what I have described, I would love to hear your experiences. Knowledge is power and I want to go into this experience as powerful as I can possibly be. So I am open and eager to hear "Your story."
Thank you
I decided to add the photo at the last minute as it really shows how crazy twisted my spine is
