Hey Healthy People! Before you know it, June will be here! Why talk about June in March? Well, June is Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month and let us get prepared to support causes that support those impacted! We need to support those with the disease by really being an anchor for the caregivers! It’s not easy but it’s fulfilling knowing that you can be there for your loved one in their time of need. The road is rough but with support, our caregivers can see the fulfillment and not be overwhelmed by the day to day. Get ready, have a plan and let’s shine bright in June!

As our team work on a new caregiver guide, we are learning so much from antecdotals shared by caregivers we consult with. I am learning so much from them as a caregiver myself. We would think I know everything being a nurse practitioner consultant for so many years, but I don’t, and never will! We are always learning, no matter who we are. We can learn from any one at any time, and I love to learn!

As we walk and pave this road together, Dementia will be less of a burden and more about learning what to do when and how. God bless my Mother’s soul, she would say to me, “today you, tomorrow me.” Meaning take care of each other, because we all have that road to walk🙌🏾. Have a beautiful caregiving day!!!!!!

We are preparing our mini series on dementia and caregiving. It’s a challenge being a caregiver and it may seem impossible many times. As a provider and a caregiver of someone with Alzheimer’s Dementia, I know the struggles and I also know the joys! They are still here y’all and we have to fight the good fight daily. That means learning new ways to “care.” I am working on my book, NPfying Dementia and Caregiving.

As a nurse practitioner (NP) Consultant with over 20 years of experience in my field, I have seen many needs and most could be fulfilled with training and education.

Besides from our consulting work and other ventures, we are focused on Dementia due to its impact locally and globally. Our families and caregivers need us, so here we are!

We are beginning to see distributors like McKesson Medical-Surgical stop the sale of personal protective equipment (PPE) to resellers and consumer websites. This is due in part to the challenges in supply of these products with the global surge in demand. The priority has to be health care institutions and providers since we are on the front line of this pandemic. Whatever appropriate PPE you have in your possession, such as the N95 mask, please be mindful of use with the constant impact on access. Stay healthy in mind and body; look out for the older adults around you. We all need a hand!

The National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners (National Registry) is a new Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) program. All commercial drivers whose current medical certificate expires on or after May 21, 2014, at expiration of that certificate must be examined by a medical professional listed on the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners. Only medical examiners that have completed training and successfully passed a test on FMCSA's physical qualification standards will be listed on the National Registry.

We provide an array of medical and nursing services, including: In-home private duty nursing care, in which the Personal Health Care Assistant will provide skilled care to meet the personal needs of the client.

We offer concierge in-home care that will address the needs of the clientele. Any intervention, such as finger stick must be signed by one of the nurses from Dwint Family Health Care who reviews the accuracy of the MD orders and observing the personal health care aide accomplishing the task safe and accurately.

Effective May 21, 2014, interstate commercial vehicle (CMV) drivers can no longer get a valid medical certificate from just any healthcare provider. Instead, CMV driver examinations can only be completed by Certified Medical Examiners (MEs) listed on FMCSA’s National Registry.
