What to do? It seems like right now we live in a world of confusion, what and who do we believe, especially when it comes to the Corona Virus. There seems to be a multitude of opinions, I get asked my opinion multiple times per day. People/patients tell me their opinions. I get asked about a vaccination, and other remedies. I would like to encourage all of you to make informed decisions, especially when it comes to inducing or injecting any foreign substances/chemicals into your body. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying everything is bad, just keep studying, do research. I know this may be a shock, but the TV isn't always right! Do to the nature of my profession I get inundated with materials. Below is a link to a video regarding the current vaccination of this virus. I know that the 20 minutes it takes to watch may seem long but it is well worth the time, after all 20 minutes is nothing compared to a life time of change it could be in the future. If you think it was interesting and helpful please pass it on. The more we get informed the better things will be.

Do we have a virus or don't we? Do we need social distancing or don't we? We seem to be in some real confusing times as a society, what's right and what's wrong! It's hard to know! Our state leaders have closed our state since mid March, indicating we need quarantining eventually turning into social distancing. As of today we still aren't able to open schools for graduations, have traditional (large weddings), church services, camp grounds, summer sports, summer camps, restaurants, etc, oh yeah and don't forget funerals. Thousands of Minnesotans have gone through a very tough spring with all the activities that have not been able to occur because of state mandated social distancing. Not sure about you, but this is where I'm confused, our Governor who gave us these mandates attended a memorial service yesterday where a very large crowd was present, sitting side by side in a large auditorium (North Central Universities auditorium). I am very happy for the families of the deceased who were able to mourn and I wouldn't want to change it for them. However, either the virus continues strong or it doesn't, either we need to social distance or we don't. What does our state leader tell us by attending (or allowing) a large gathering? Many of us have lost a loved one during this "pandemic", including me and haven't been able to have services for them. Hopefully real soon, we will see our state open fully like all of our surrounding states and will be able to make our own individual decision whether we feel safe or not to have our own celebrations/memorials/etc.

Are masks essential? There are basically four main essentials for life and health; food, water, oxygen and nerve impulse. Without food you will die, without eating healthy food (getting proper nutrition) your body may develop many other health issues. Without water you will die, without proper amounts of water (and good water) your body may develop health issues. You need to drink good, pure clean water! Your brain (central nervous system), sends messages down your spinal cord and out the nerves between the vertebra (peripheral nerves) and is responsible to communicate to the rest of your body (all the organs, tissues, glands of your body have a nerves supply). If your brain would stop you die, if your brain can't communicate to the rest of your body due to subluxation (mis-aligned vertebra), that part of your body may develop other health issues. Proper vertebral alignment may be essential for proper cell formation in all your muscles, tissues, organs, glands, etc., Chiropractic care adjusts (aligns subluxation) to help the maintain proper nerve communication.
This leads me to oxygen, without oxygen you die, we need to breath. I mention this because people are wearing masks more often, without proper oxygen our bodies will develop heath issues. Oxygen is essential! If you're choosing to wear a mask out in public just make sure you're handling it properly. I also want to encourage you to take it off whenever possible (whenever you feel safe), get outside and get some good oxygen.

What is essential? Dictionary.com states: absolutely necessary, indispensible. Even though I am grateful as many of you are that the government has considered Chiropractic care essential, they sure have made it confusing when it comes to other businesses. I could go on but I have a feeling that many of us are on the same page. I want to focus on the health side of essential. Food and water are essential, but I think physical touch plays a huge role in our health. I know that we've been asked to practice "social distancing" so please don't take this the wrong way and be wreckless. Tomorrow is Mother's Day, if you are able or feel comfortable give a mom a hug tomorrow, it may be the touch they need to get through a day (essential). Mom's are important and play big role in our lives. I would call a mom essential (absolutely necessary, indispensible). From infancy to adulthood, mom's are there, they hugged us when we fell and skinned our knee and hugged us when we would go through life hurts as an adult. They hug us in both sad times and happy times. So again, reach out (if you feel safe and comfortable) and give a mom or someone else a hug, you never know how many more chances you may have. MOM'S ARE ESSENTIAL!

Should I wear a mask? This was a question asked often to me last week. I can't tell you what you should do, but I want to share some thoughts about it. If you think you need to wear a mask here are some things I've been noticing while out watching people with masks. They touch them constantly, whether they're adjusting them, pulling them away from their faces to breath better or to unfog their glasses, etc, of course this is after they have a cart full of items that have been handled by many before them. Every time you take your mask on/off, if your hands are not disinfected first you may be contaminating your mask. We touch our steering wheel, phone, door handles, etc then reach for our mask that has been sitting in the open, possibly undisinfected air. When not wearing it, store it properly. Another thought, if your wearing a mask, make sure you clean it properly and often as your exhaled air can create moisture which could eventually lead to other types of health issues. I know this sounds discouraging but my intention is to help you be aware of what your putting up to your face. Again, wearing a mask is an individual choice, my intention is to help bring awareness that the mask is only as good as it's cleanliness/sterility.

Social distancing? Wow has this been a topic! Been in any store lately, did you get a darkish feeling? Is it just me or does it seem that during this time of "social distancing" we have become more anti-social? Changing our space between each other doesn't mean we to change our behavior. It's ok to say hello, to say excuse me, etc. to be friendly and courteous. I promise our voices carry further than 6 feet. Smile at people, it will bring a smile to you. Even if you're wearing a mask, people can see you smile under it and your voice will carry thru it. During this crazy time we need each other, let's work together and maybe use the term "Physical Distancing". This topic was brought up by several of our patients this past week, I thought it would be great to pass it on. Being happy and friendly will only help us all get thru these times.

What's on your mind? With the recent COVID-19 pandemic it seems that our brains are filled with Corona virus. We're inundated with all kinds of thoughts like, "it can't be that bad", "were taking this too far", "were not taking this serious enough", "it's conspiracy", etc. Every conversation, T.V. commercial, store signs, etc. are all related to this virus, like nothing else in the world matters. Many other life events have seemed forgotten. This is Easter weekend, it seems like it's lost in this virus dominance. Easter is the celebration of what Jesus did over 2000 years ago, He is the son of God, who was crucified on a cross for our sins, was buried, and rose from the dead (was resurrected). I encourage you to try and empty your brain of the virus and fill it with the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus. He is GREATER than any virus.
If your church doesn't have a live stream opportunity to watch Resurrection Sunday try and find one that does. I attend Lakes Free Church in Lindstrom (Lakesfree.org), it'll be live streaming at 10:30. As mentioned in other posts, your health is our number one concern, this virus has added lots of stress to our lives that could lead to other health conditions. Take a break this weekend. See you soon

As we continue to plug through this life altering event of COVID-19 we would like to give a shout out to our patients. Here at the Kari Clinic we have been working hard to keep everything disinfected after each patient, washing our hands after each patient and changing our schedule to accommodate fewer people in the office at one time. The shout out is for all of you who have been understanding and patient with us as we work together thru this time. We're humbled by all of you thanking us for being open, whether you're continuing wellness care or have struggled with recent set back or new ones in extreme pain. We are grateful that we can be here for you. For those of you uncertain about coming in, we understand. We want to encourage you not to wait too long, we wouldn't want you to get to a point to where you would need extra care. Looking forward to continuing to serve all of you.

This whole COVid-19 have you down? Feeling stressed from all the media? Watching the news isn't going to change the virus, it just adds stress to our lives, turn it off. This virus doesn't change the fact that it's spring time. The sunrise and sunset has no idea that there's a virus, watch one or both of them and enjoy. The sunset last night was spectacular and the sunrise this morning was beautiful. Look at trees, they are starting to bud, the birds are singing, again regardless of the virus. Get out of the house, go for a walk or drive. Stress only has a negative effect on your health and immune system. Getting Chiropractic adjustments also impacts the immune system. You are all doing awesome, hang in there, see you soon.

Question of the day, "What can I do to stay healthy?" Here are some ideas to help keep your immune up. Get some exercise, go for a walk or something, try not to stress over the current situation, stress will tax your immune system. Drink large quantities of good water, even add a packet of Emergen-C to your water once a day. Turn off the news for the week end, or allow maybe only 30 minutes. Start or learn a new game. Call a friend or loved one. Proper nutrition is important, eating foods with sugar or high fructose corn syrup (candy, donuts, sugar cereals, junk food) or pop/energy drinks are like adding fuel to a fire, viruses love that kind of environment. This will give you a good a good start.

Patients thanked us many times today for the fact that our clinic was open. The MN Dept. of Health has deemed Chiropractic care as an essential health resource and would like us to stay open. We feel grateful and blessed to have so many patients who trust us with their health care needs. We will continue to be here and provide you the best care possible. As a reminder we are disinfecting according to CDC guidelines. See you soon.
