How much time do you put in to preparing for activity?

The ability to contract muscles efficiently is key to every activity you participate in.

Here are a couple of snapshots of Isometrics I am taking my client Matt through before his golf lesson.

In a little over 10 minutes we were able to get key areas of tightness opened up by activating areas In which he is inhibited by normally.

Muscle Activation Monday!

I’ve been asked this question since 2005 when I became a Greg Roskopf's Muscle Activation Techniques Specialist and started using it in my health, fitness and sports performance practice. What shuts muscles down?

The answer can be as simple as stress, overuse or trauma.

Stress can be physical or emotional but not always easy to figure out.

Overuse… I see this all the time… someone is doing something that they don’t usually do. I.e. raking leaves for 5 hours. Not something you do all the time!!!

Trauma is the easiest to blame. Kind of obvious.

What ever the cause of muscles shutting down… you need someone there to put you back together! That’s what I do!

No one woke me up today for my early workout.

No one is helping me get ready to go see 6 different clients today.

No one is getting me motivated to do the things I need to do to take care of myself and my family.

Yes… there are those that inspire me! And I am so grateful! But in the end… I take the first step and I am responsible for my actions!

Loved working out with today at

Started things off with 10 minutes of Push-Pull, belt squats and rotations then added Push-ups Pull-ups and body weight Squats at the end for good measure!

You can see that his ball sticking ability didn’t get hurt at all with the correct intensity and control in the weight room!

One of the coolest things about working at is not only do I get to share my love of Fitness and with all the great golf and fitness professionals I work with but they also share their knowledge and passion as well!

Big shout out to for the lesson yesterday! That was so much fun. Jack broke the game down to me in easy to use ideas so I could understand and take the steps to improve my game!

I believe that should be the foundation to any health and fitness regime.

The ability to contract (squeeze) muscles in an isolated position first can lead to better results for all your health, fitness and sports performance endeavors!

Even low level isometrics can lead to benefits such as lowering blood pressure and increasing range of motion and stability of joints.

Part of my beginning program for any client starts with being able to control positions with isometrics!

Fitness is From The Inside Out

I have worked in Fitness Industry since 1985... You name it... I have probably done it in this industry... Fitness and/or Personal Training Director, Boot Camp and Group Exercise Coach, Spin Instructor, Personal Trainer and Health and Wellness Speaker.

Nothing compares to what what I have been doing the last 15+ years of my long career. It used to be that when clients said they were hurt... they wouldn't come in... Now when there is tightness or pain... They say “when can I get in?” I absolutely love what I do!

Muscle Activation Techniques gives me the ability to Assess the muscular system (43 Patterns of Movement, 560 muscles) for weakness/inhibition and Restore proper muscle function.. Once the muscular system has been restored I help you Practice proper exercise to Play any sport or activity you desire!

But the landscape for helping people has changed and I had to change with it... I had to come up with a way that I could help people virtually until the environment allowed me to get back to seeing people in person. This was an idea that had long been brewing before the Covid-19 Pandemic so what better way to use my “time off” than to finish what I started!
