At Virginia Sport and Spine Institute, we stay hands-on throughout the process—assessing, adjusting, and guiding your care every step of the way. But we don’t stop when symptoms calm down.

We prioritize building real, functional strength so your body can handle the demands of everyday life—not just the treatment table.

Because lasting results come from what you can do, not just how you feel.

Glimpse into a pre-meet lift.

This isn’t about fatigue—this is about readiness.
Priming the system for motor unit recruitment, force expression, and impulse production.

Low volume. High intent.
Wake the nervous system up so when it’s time to compete…
you don’t find speed—you express it.

Josh, working with Austin Pierpont, is 14 weeks post-op and building back the right way

Working here after a large posterior labral repair—dialing in global shoulder girdle control through a mix of open + closed chain work. Focusing on dynamic serratus, rotator cuff, and lower trap activation with the right co-contraction to get everything firing before we load into heavier compound and accessory strength work.

Because it’s not just about getting back… it’s about performing at full capacity

There is no 1 way to swing a golf club. However, there is an optimal way we create force with the body and transfer it to the club. To perform optimally as an athlete, our body needs to be an able to do the things we ask it to in a powerful and efficient way while reducing unnecessary strain.
Are you performing optimally? Do you hurt after you play or practice? It may be time to get a movement, fitness and skill assessment to better understand where you are leaking power, requiring movement compensations or limiting your ability to perform your skill.

Meet the Team: Dr. Jeremy Storms

Dr. Storms is a third-generation Doctor of Chiropractic originally from the western New York state town of Corning. He joined VSSI in 2019 after owning a practice in Cincinnati for 21 years. During that time, Dr. Storms maintained the clinic and worked with local high school athletes, a professional baseball team, and 3 Professional Arena Football teams, and was voted into the Cincinnati Semi-Pro Football Hall of Fame for many hours on semi-pro sidelines.

Dr. Storms feels blessed to be an early member of the VSSI team and has immersed himself again in working with the community and diverse groups of active individuals. You will often find him on the sidelines for local high school football games on Friday nights. He has found employing functional movement, the movement screens, and the ability to tailor individual treatment plans to each of his patients the most rewarding and effective practice and time in his career. He enjoys the opportunity to help restore mobility and guide his patient’s return to an active lifestyle.
