Located two miles west of Forestville on 80 acres in beautiful Sonoma County, the California School of Herbal Studies is one of North America’s oldest centers for herbal education. Join teachers Gabrielle Doucette-Boisse and Claire Carlomagno for a journey into fall through the lens of the 5 senses. 🌀

Taste, view, smell, touch, and hear the language of the plants. Learn to incorporate herbs into your daily life to support health and wellness as we move through seasonal changes. 🍃

This 5 week series will include hands on medicine making, cooking demos, herbal inspiration, and plenty of goodies to bring home!

Class dates: September 8, 15, 22, 29, and October 6.

Gabrielle is a CSHS alumni, resident medicine maker, chef, as well as the Wellness + First Aid tent coordinator for the Northern California Women’s Herbal Symposium. She loves sharing food as medicine and empowering students with approachable first aid for all of life’s bumps and bruises.

Claire is a q***r herbalist, teacher, artist, and threshold worker who is deeply committed to earth healing, community, homesteading, flowers, friends, and her family. She is currently co-director of Youth Programming at the Sonoma Community Center.

Summer is here which means time to harvest St John's Wort! Autumn Summers, one of the CSHS teachers, is offering a St John's Wort harvest class at Pepperwood Preserve east of Santa Rosa. Come learn all about this amazing herb and harvest your own to make your own medicinal oil and tincture. Besides being known to support a good mood, St. John's Wort is wonderful for bruises and sprains, wound healing and nerve pain.

Take part in a great way to remove an invasive plant: turning it into medicine! Join herbalist Autumn Summers for an evening on the land where you will not only learn the uses of St. John's Wort, but also how to identify, harvest, and process it into a medicinal oil.

Starting next weekend is our Handcrafted Herbalism 9 month weekend course! You will cultivate confidence in herbal knowledge + medicine making.
Spend time rooted in our beautiful outdoor classroom, medicinal herb garden, and medicine making lab, where you will create personalized herbal medicine. 🌱
This is an extraordinary opportunity to learn medicine making as a step by step process, straight from the garden to the lab!
You will leave this course with foundational knowledge in:
- Herbal medicine making, such as tinctures, glycerites, infused oils, salves, + so much more!
- Materia medica
- Plant ID
