The Empress Tarot Card!

The AIRR Tech Team settled into their easy chairs today to rejoice in The Empress -- the fourth in our series of 22 informative web pages on the Tarot Trumps or Major Arcana. The card depicts a woman in a loose-fitting white gown embroidered in an overall pattern of red Rose buds. She is seated on a stone bench in her garden, holds a scepter of power, wears a necklace of pearls, and on her brow is a wreath of Bay Laurel leaves, surmounted by a golden diadem or tiara of twelve diamond stars. This card, allied with the planet Venus, symbolizes universal fecundity, nurturing generosity, fully-empowered female rulership. Catherine Yronwode wrote the page with contributions by Papa Newt and Nagasiva Yronwode. The images are by Pamela Colman Smith, courtesy of Hoodoo Psychics, and Oswald Wirth, courtesy of Thom Rose, and were photo-edited by nagasiva yronwode. Papa Newt did site-wide linking and proofreading, and Nagasiva did proofreading and created this graphic announcement. Check out our sumptuous new page on The Empress Tarot Card!
