The Empress Tarot Card!

The AIRR Tech Team settled into their easy chairs today to rejoice in The Empress -- the fourth in our series of 22 informative web pages on the Tarot Trumps or Major Arcana. The card depicts a woman in a loose-fitting white gown embroidered in an overall pattern of red Rose buds. She is seated on a stone bench in her garden, holds a scepter of power, wears a necklace of pearls, and on her brow is a wreath of Bay Laurel leaves, surmounted by a golden diadem or tiara of twelve diamond stars. This card, allied with the planet Venus, symbolizes universal fecundity, nurturing generosity, fully-empowered female rulership. Catherine Yronwode wrote the page with contributions by Papa Newt and Nagasiva Yronwode. The images are by Pamela Colman Smith, courtesy of Hoodoo Psychics, and Oswald Wirth, courtesy of Thom Rose, and were photo-edited by nagasiva yronwode. The AIRR Tech Team enjoyed a pleasant and productive afternoon, as we celebrated the qualities of the optimistic twelfth animal of the Chinese Lunar Zodiac: The Pig! This peaceful porcine mammal embodies calmness and joi de vivre. Those born in the year of the Pig are considered to be cheerful and intelligent, and balanced in their approach to life, always taking time to savour the present moment. Lukianos wrote the page with contributions by Catherine Yronwode and Papa Newt. Nagasiva Yronwode sourced the images by Nora Achab, Zeffss, BabySofja, and Kjolak; and Catherine edited the text. Catherine and Papa Newt did proofreading and site-wide linking and Nagasiva created this graphic announcement. Check out our positive new page on The Pig!
