For many Montanans living in rural communities, accessing specialized healthcare isn’t as simple as booking an appointment. It can mean hours on the road to cities like Great Falls. But a growing outreach effort from health care like Missouri River Medical Center is changing that reality by bringing providers directly to patients.

The goal: reduce barriers to access and ensure patients receive timely treatment closer to home.

As part of BMRMC’s Trauma Outreach, our team led an American College of Surgeons Stop the Bleed course for the LEO’s (Leadership, Experience, Opportunity) group at Fort Benton High School—teaching students how to respond quickly and confidently in an emergency!

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is more common than many people realize. In fact, 1 in 2 adults between ages 30 and 64 is expected to develop CKD in their lifetime. Some of our team had the opportunity to attend the Montana Hospital Association (MHA) Conference in Butte last week, where they shared their Quality Improvement Fellowship project focused on improving door-to-EKG times for cardiac patients.

This work is part of our ongoing commitment to delivering timely, high-quality care for our community—because every minute matters when it comes to heart health.

Benefis Health System, in collaboration with the Alzheimer’s Association Montana, is hosting a Caregiver Support Group on Thursday, April 16, at The Grandview at Benefis. This support group is open to anyone caring for individuals living with Alzheimer’s or related dementias — whether you’re a spouse, adult child, or caregiver outside of the family. It offers a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space to share experiences, ask questions, and connect with others who understand the caregiving journey. Support groups can help caregivers build coping strategies, prioritize their own physical and emotional well-being, and gain practical tools for caring for loved ones living with dementia.

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. Our staff planted pinwheels outside the hospital last week in partnership with Prevent Child Abuse America’s Pinwheels for Prevention campaign as a reminder that we all play a role in children’s lives.
