This time of year, many people begin to shed their clothing, put on swimsuits or shorts and head to the beach, the lake or wherever suits their fancy. The weather is warmer and more conducive to spending time doing important activities such as working on your tan or swimming in the lake!
One factor that can sometimes restrict a person’s level of enjoyment is if they feel that they are carrying too much excess weight on their body. Although we all have different body types and there is no “perfect weight” for any given body size, there are times when too much weight can make it difficult to feel good or participate in activities that require a more fit body.
Over the years we’ve seen many different approaches to managing weight. One thing we’ve learned is that the best approaches are not “diets,” but rather a more basic shift to a more wholesome and sustainable relationship with food and our bodies; something that one can incorporate into their lifestyle on a permanent basis.
Nowhere we’ve looked have we seen anything as effective as the simple addition of Spirulina to our diet…and we’ve been watching diet fads come and go for a really long time! New research is showing us that even without any other changes, positive effects can be achieved simply through the daily addition of Spirulina to the diet.
The new research that we are speaking about is not just another study. It is what is called a meta-analysis of 17 different randomized controlled trials (RCT). This means that it is essentially the compilation or combined information from all of these studies. This is, of course, more significant than if it were only one study.
Here is a summary of what the researchers found out about adding Spirulina to the diet.
Participants had significant reductions in
Body fat percentage
Body mass index
Body weight
They also found that increased intake meant more results and that longer and consistent usage also meant better results.
The reasons that people gain excess weight are many. The fact that our food supply has reduced nutrient levels is a major factor. When you eat and eat, but your body is not getting what it needs because of low nutrient food, there can be a tendency to just keep eating. Even if you get great quality organic food, other factors such as a compromised intestinal lining through ongoing ingestion of foods tainted with glyphosate and other toxins can severely affect the nutrients that are actually getting into your body. Beyond this can be multiple additional reasons (a diet of mostly highly processed foods, stress, emotional factors, etc.,.) why the nutrition is just not getting to where it needs to go.
If you’ve read these newsletters for a while, you already know that there are many other very positive benefits of eating Spirulina that go beyond what we are sharing here. It may occur to you that some of those other benefits might play a role in your results. Reducing inflammation and oxidative stress could certainly be positive factors that could enhance weight balance, for example. Think about this for a moment: These other benefits are essentially the opposite of what the toxic world of pharmaceuticals calls “side effects.” It is truly a synergy (a symphony, really) of processes that are the basis of the natural world.
It is important to remember that our body is programmed to use whole, pure, natural foods to sustain itself, not chemicals or the latest fad diet that is often a result of a lack of understanding about what is actually happening in the industrial food system of our current society. When we look at the various initiatives that are being pursued in the name of a scientific approach to health, we see some work that has true promise, others that are very misguided at best, and still others which are downright scary! It can be quite confusing to navigate these times; especially when there are new ideas being “fed” to us all the time.
One example is a company in Israel that can, with special “printers,” assemble a “steak” that is ready to cook in one minute! The company touts their invention as a solution to the problem of climate change which they say is to a great extent caused by cow farts and burps. So the foundation of their work is based on the idea that they are saving us all from the terrible cow problem. But are they, really? They do not mention that when cows are raised in a wholesome way, they are actually carbon negative! The whole idea is based on the assumption that cows are bad, rather than the reality that factory farming is the problem. This is only an example of how confusing it can be to understand what is transpiring in our bodies, in our communities and in the world. One way to begin to sort all of this out is to ask yourself this question:
What do I trust more
The intelligence of science?
Or the wisdom of nature?
Your answer to this question can become a guide post and compass in your own search for what is optimal in your life and with your friends and family. This is not to say that science is bad. But it is a way to keep a perspective on the latest health developments as we encounter them in our every day lives. It is a way to understand that a lot of what we witness today in science is out of balance. It doesn’t takes a PhD to understand that fact. Science today is based on separation. This means that the mind is often employed without consulting the heart. That way is not in balance and ultimately leads to poor choices. It is the combination of the mind and heart that creates balance and leads to wisdom. Another way to express this is the idea that “just because something can be done, does not mean it should be done.”
Returning to Spirulina, we are fortunate to have access to this most wonderful and useful organism that is a pure expression of nature at her finest! It was not created by humans in a lab; it is one of the oldest (if not the oldest) life forms on Earth. When it comes to weight, we don’t need to shame ourselves, torture ourselves, or become out of balance in order to get in balance. Nature has everything that we truly need. Nothing that has ever been created by humans in the health realms even comes close to Spirulina. And nothing in the world of Spirulina comes close to BioLumina Spirulina. We hope you’ll join us each morning as we say:
Wake up and smell the BioLumina!
Happy Summertime!
