Self-healing steps for the new year:

Grab a large empty box (you may have a couple after the holidays) and walk around your home filling it with items on display which you no longer need, and which can be donated. Some items may have been purchased because you enjoyed them at the time, but you are now a different person. Donate the box to a non-profit thrift store which resonates with you. Afterwards, standing in your home, feeling the new open spaces, you may find yourself more relaxed. In fact, you may choose to leave the openness throughout the year, or new items may take their place.

Creatively place favorite colors in your home and car, where you may frequently and effortlessly absorb their healing energy. Examples: placemats, floor mats, rugs, photos, art, mats in frames, vases, real and/or artificial flowers, pens with different color inks, etc.

Repeat these steps every three months (put on your calendar), and your inner peace and growth will expand tenfold.

As our days grow shorter this time of year, you may be spending more time at home. Now is a good time to upgrade your space, that is, sprinkle it with images or items which bring you joy. Are there photographs or art work from places which make you happy? Do you need neutral colors to release the day, or bright colors to energize?

It isn't surprising that autumn is frequently chosen as a favorite season. Nature lets go of what no longer serves it. We feel that healing transition; a safe, beautifully colorful time to let go of what no longer serves us. Take walks or drives when you can and let it go, naturally.

Wouldn't it be fabulous if there was a one-size-fits-all modality that heals everything up in one session? You'd just head to the nearest office, pull a ticket, and wait for your number to be called. It would be so simple. Of course, we are not a simple specie. We are complicated, and complex, with unique traits and perspectives. How do you know where to begin? Research the different types of healing modalities on line, and whichever one really peaks your interest, start there.

Climate changes affect us personally. Higher temperatures have been linked to a 2% increase in mental health issues, and Harvard research has determined that by mid-century, millions of additional individuals could develop zinc and protein deficiencies as a result to changes in plant physiology, including those which we ingest.

Being aware is the first step; pay attention to your environment and diet. Energy work assists your systems to acclimate.

We are each truly unique, which can be fabulous and, at times, frustrating. It's fabulous, because no one else is you. No one. That's pretty cool. It can also be frustrating when you're trying to figure out how to make healthy changes in certain areas of your life, such as relationships, job/career, confidence, self-fulfillment, etc. You try to follow advice - whether from friends or motivational gurus - which doesn't always work. That's because there's a catch: it needs to be tweaked to MATCH YOU.

'Tis the season for colds and flu. Consider essential oils as a preventative measure. Diffusers are available in both tabletop and travel options. For purposes, be sure to use essential, not synthetic fragrance oils. A.L. Childers offers this combination for an "immune booster."

With the intense conflicts occurring in our country these days, it's important to release stress whenever possible. Just spending 30 minutes outside - walking, running, or sitting on a park bench - helps tremendously. The simplicity of nature's healing. :-)
