Due to a rise in influenza cases in our community, Womack Army Medical Center is taking proactive steps to protect our patients and staff by providing the following temporary guidance:
ā¢Masks Highly Recommended: We encourage all staff and visitors to wear masks while in the hospital (Masks will be available to patients who do not have their own)
ā¢Children Under 12: As much as possible, we kindly request that families limit bringing children under the age of 12 to the hospital for visitation or appointments that arenāt their own.
Rationale:
Protecting Vulnerable Populations: Influenza and RSV are highly contagious and can pose serious health risks to vulnerable populations, including the elderly, young children, and immunocompromised individuals.
Reducing Transmission: Masking significantly reduces the transmission of respiratory viruses, such as influenza and RSV.
Maintaining a Safe Healthcare Environment: Implementing this policy helps protect both patients and staff from infection and minimizes the potential for outbreaks within the facility.
We appreciate your cooperation in helping to protect the health and safety of our patients and staff.
