August is Children’s Eye Health and Safety Month! 👁️🧒

This national observance highlights the importance of protecting children's vision and promoting eye health — especially as kids head back to school. Clear vision is essential for learning, development, and overall well-being 1 2.

Why It Matters:
1 in 20 children aged 3–5 has a serious eye condition that could lead to permanent vision loss if untreated 2.
Uncorrected vision problems can interfere with learning and development 1.
Routine eye screenings are often missed in early childhood, making awareness and early detection critical 2.
Common Childhood Eye Issues:
Myopia (nearsightedness)
Hyperopia (farsightedness)
Astigmatism
Amblyopia (lazy eye)
Strabismus (crossed eyes)
Eye injuries from sports or toys

What You Can Do:
🗓️ Schedule an eye exam for your child
📣 Share awareness on social media using
🧠 Learn the signs of vision problems: squinting, eye rubbing, head tilting, or wandering eyes
🛡️ Promote eye safety during play, sports, and screen time

🚌 School Bus Safety Reminder 🛑

As the school year approaches, let’s all do our part to keep kids safe on the road!

🚸 Drivers, remember:

*Stop when a school bus extends its stop arm and red lights are flashing—it's the law.
*Never pass a stopped school bus from either direction on an undivided road.
*Slow down in school zones and watch for children crossing the street.
*Stay alert—kids may not always look both ways.

👦👧 Parents & Students:

*Arrive at the bus stop early and stand back from the curb.
*Wait for the bus to stop completely before approaching.
*Always cross in front of the bus, never behind.

Let’s work together to make this school year a safe one for everyone! 💛

🌍💙 Happy International Friendship Day! 💙🌍

At Tulip Tree Family Health Care, we believe that friendship is a powerful force for health and healing. Whether it's a neighbor who checks in, a friend who listens, or a community that lifts each other up — these connections are the heart of well-being.

Today, we celebrate the bonds that bring us together — across cultures, generations, and backgrounds. Because strong friendships build stronger communities.

👫🏽💬 Take a moment to reach out to a friend today. Share a smile, a kind word, or a walk in the park. Your friendship could be the boost someone needs.

💚 From all of us at Tulip Tree, thank you for being part of our community. Together, we thrive.

🦟 West Nile Virus Detected in Indiana – Let’s Stay Safe Together! 🦟

The Indiana Department of Health has confirmed the first case of West Nile Virus in 2025 in Vanderburgh County, with mosquito samples testing positive in Gibson County. As mosquito season continues, it’s important to take simple steps to protect yourself and your loved ones. 💚

🛡️ Here’s how you can help prevent mosquito bites: ✔️ Use insect repellent with DEET, picaridin, or oil of lemon eucalyptus
✔️ Wear long sleeves and pants when outdoors, especially at dawn and dusk
✔️ Dump standing water around your home—birdbaths, buckets, flowerpots, and gutters
✔️ Keep window and door screens in good shape to keep mosquitoes out

⚠️ Know the symptoms:
Most people don’t show symptoms, but some may experience fever, headache, body aches, or rash. Severe cases can affect the nervous system. If you feel unwell after a mosquito bite, contact your healthcare provider.

Let’s work together to keep our community healthy and mosquito-free! 💪
