Intentional Goal Setting
It can be hard to set specific and attainable goals. This could be due to unresolved trauma inhibiting motivation, fear of failure, or lack of direction. Although it's talked about it often, it is not easily as mastered as it sounds. Setting goals is a skill, and may be best done with a mentor or guide. Here at New Visions, most clients have a behavior they are looking to change, a relationship they would like to improve, or a thought process that needs to be corrected or enhanced. In order to make and mark progress on these areas, it is important for clients to have an established goal. According to Grief Recovery Center, studies showed that those who set useful goals during therapy experienced less anxiety, less stress and an ability to concentrate better.
