You talk to yourself more than anyone else, so it matters how that voice sounds.
Most of us are patient with other people’s growth but ruthless with our own. We expect ourselves to get it right the first time, to not slip up, to “know better.” But growth doesn’t work like that. It’s messy, inconsistent, and sometimes frustratingly slow.
Treating yourself with grace isn’t letting yourself off the hook, it’s giving yourself a real chance to improve. When you’re not constantly tearing yourself down, you actually have the space to reflect, adjust, and keep going.
Try this: notice how you respond the next time you mess up. Is it harsh? Dismissive? Would you say that to someone you care about?
You don’t need to be perfect to be worth patience.
