When I started Foss Yoga, I was so scared.
My husband (then boyfriend) can attest I cried weekly both before and after opening our doors for different reasons that mostly boiled down to fear.
I’m not a risk taker who could have ever done this (and held on) without yoga.
I’m a sensitive person (just a girl with an imagination) who has to work really hard on my mat to let go and not let the hurtful things that happen to us all, whether you own a business or not, stick.
Foss Yoga is important to me because yoga helps people through the mental, emotional, and yes, physical stress, that is part of being human, loving other people, and pursuing purposeful work.
It helps us reconnect to ourselves as children and see others as children too, more easily forgiving their fears and hurts.
Karuna is one of the four Brahmaviharas (divine abodes) and is usually translated to English as “compassion,” but more precisely means “the trembling of the heart in response to suffering.”
We practice compassion for ourselves through yoga when we honor instead of punish our mind and body. Learn not to reprimand, but encourage. Our heart trembles a little to see our five year old selves trying something new, learning, exploring, falling and getting back up.
We practice compassion for others in yoga when we choose to see our shared vulnerability and practice together.
Simply being together is the first step.
If you’re trying to grow your understanding of yourself and others to forgive, to accept, and to embrace, join us for class this week.❤️
Heck, join us for class EVERY week.
May yoga lighten the load for you the same way it has for me every day I’ve unrolled my mat. 🙏🏻
