1️⃣ Rest generally isn't helpful. Our bodies are created to move, this is what helps us improve blood flow to injured tissues. Motion is lotion!⁠

2️⃣ Imaging seems like it would be helpful for getting to the root cause, the only problem is- it isn't. Don't believe us? Every clinical practice guideline across the globe agrees that you should avoid imagining for back pain (and they say you should exercise too!)⁠

3️⃣ Pain is a complicated output by our brain that takes into account much more than purely the amount of tissue damage present. ⁠
⁠
4️⃣ No evidence shows one posture is better than another posture..β€œYour best posture is your next posture” – try not to stay in any single posture for longer than 20-30 minutes.⁠

5️⃣ Core strengthening IS helpful and IS a piece of the puzzle⁠
⁠
BUT⁠
⁠
It’s never been shown to prevent back pain and research shows that general exercise is just as effective as specific core training.⁠
⁠

Pregnancy and the postpartum period are huge transition points both physically and emotionally. At Onward, our focus is on empowering you to pursue your goals while helping you feel strong and healthy for the long run.

Our team assists moms and moms-to-be seeking more guidance with their exercise and fitness progressions, preparing for birth, healing postpartum, and getting back to all the things they love. Everyone's pregnancy and postpartum journey are different and we believe you deserve a personalized plan to help you feel your best.

You tweaked that shoulder during a high volume or heavy lift. You get home and first instinct is to open the medicine cabinet to grab some ibuprofen and get ahead of the problem.

Let’s pause the narrative there.

Research has shown some negative side effects for using NSAIDs as our first line of defense. SLIDE to read some of that research and DM me if you have questions!

Time and time again we’re seeing more research backing up the effectiveness of using the medicine INSIDE your body instead. It’s better and comes without those harmful side effects.

Resume narrative.
But instead of opening the bottle of NSAIDs, you load up that shoulder with analgesic isometrics and open up a prescription of some interval sprints on the assault bike to get some vascular flushing of inflammation out. There’s some good tendon healing. Need a physio who knows how to get you maximizing performance while managing symptoms? Hit us up!
