Occasionally, we provide fabrication services for marketing and advertising firms, as well as other sign companies. Such is the case for the 2-sided, 30" x 9', Wonder Outpost sandblasted sign. We produced the large horizontal sign for Husky Signs located in Frederick, CO. Our services for Husky included ordering the high density urethane (HDU) substrate, sandblasting a faux wood texture into its surface, routing the letters to a depth of 1/4", and, then cutting an irregular, rough-hewn border around the entire sign. The Harrison carved gold leaf sign is now installed at the entrance of the St. Spyridon Orthodox Church to which member Bill Harrison bequeathed the custom-made sign. Hand-carved, the 14" x 25" gold-leafed, mahogany sign is elegant and simple in design.

Lately, hand-carved signs have been very popular. Whether they're used as personal or business signs, the requests have increased. Usually, the projects are for more artistic, elegant or personalized signs. For example, the hand-carved sign (pictured) is a church sign that's in the process of becoming a treasured item for the St. Spyridon Orthodox Church. The finished PEAK Church custom, two-sided sign is now installed! Over the winter months it was stored at PEAK Church. During those months, members of the church constructed two, 8-inch wood piers. They painted the piers to coordinate with the sign's color scheme. Once finished, and after the ground had softened, they sank the piers and installed the sign in March of 2025.

The sign features hand-carved, hammered, silver-leafed letters and a custom-shaped, hand-painted religious graphic. Pictured below are several detail photos of the silver-leafed letters, as well as the religious graphic. Read more on our blog at, www.paxtonsigns.com/blog .

Gold leaf is gossamer-thin 23K gold foil that requires an experienced hand to apply it. Surprisingly, gold leaf lasts up to 20 years. It's more durable than digital prints or paint that last from 5 to 10 years, respectively. And, gold leaf always looks amazing!

Check out a recent gold leaf project: the SHAMOM 10.5"x 20" hand-carved, leafed, black walnut sign. As you can see, gold leaf creates an elegant cachet. It is particularly effective when used as a graphic focus. This sign is simple in design with gold leaf highlighting the prismatic, hand-carved name, "SHAMOM." The four hand-carved earth signs and yoga symbol are minimally carved into the black walnut. Read more about the project at, www.paxtonsigns.com/blog

Berthoud's marketing team contacted Paxton Signs about our unique design and hand-painting services. Hand-painted signs are somewhat of a rarity these days because of the advent of computerized sign-making. But, it's alive and well at Paxton Signs.

We went to work designing four different looks for Berthoud's highway entrance signs. The design they loved was a takeoff of a vintage 1960's Route 66 postcard, shown below. This retro-themed design fulfilled their requirement of incorporating Berthoud's small town charm with its historical agricultural and rural atmosphere.

There are a total of three 8'x8' aluminum sheet signs, each one individually fabricated and hand-painted: a work of art at each highway entrance to the Town of Berthoud, CO
