birth the way you choose: make yourself comfortable, wear the clothing you choose, eat when you feel hungry, move as you please and choose to labor in a birth tub or have a waterbirth. In addition to our birth center, we also provide homebirth midwifery care, women's health services, prenatal care, and doula training for the Northern Colorado community.

Did you know we work alongside a Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialist (MFM) — a physician with advanced training in high-risk pregnancies and complex maternal and fetal conditions. While OBs provide essential care for most pregnancies, an MFM brings an added layer of specialized expertise when closer monitoring or consultation is needed.
At Tender Gifts, our priority has always been keeping our clients safe, supported, and low risk whenever possible. Partnering with an MFM allows us to stay aligned with the most current, evidence-based practices and gives us an extra set of expert eyes when questions arise.
This collaboration helps us:

✨ Identify any potential concerns early

✨ Ensure appropriate care plans are in place

✨ Maintain the safest environment for our clients

✨ Support confident, informed decision-making
We remain a safe, competent, and evidence-based facility — and this partnership strengthens our commitment to providing thoughtful, individualized care every step of the way.
Your safety is always at the heart of what we do 🤍

After baby is born, it is always routine with us to never cut the cord until mom and dad are ready. This can look like 10 minutes or 1 hour, but we'll never rush and we'll always ask.

Here’s why it matters:
• Boosts iron stores for the first 6 months
• Supports brain development
• Increases blood volume and oxygen delivery
• Reduces risk of anemia in infancy

For preterm babies, the benefits are even greater—helping with circulation, reducing need for transfusions, and lowering risk of complications.

Infertility Awareness Week is a gentle invitation to honor the many unseen journeys into parenthood. For those who are longing, waiting, grieving, or holding hope in quiet ways—your experience is real and worthy of care. In a culture that often places expectations on timing and outcomes, we recognize the emotional weight that can come with uncertainty, and we hold space for every feeling that may arise along the way.

As midwifery care providers, we are here to offer grounded, compassionate support for the whole person. Your body, your story, and your process deserve to be met with deep respect and tenderness. Whether you are seeking guidance, rest, or simply a place to be witnessed without pressure or judgment, you are not alone here. 🤍

Althea Hrdlichka, CPM

As a mother of four, I found my enjoyment and satisfaction during pregnancy was truly dependent on the support I received. I have had four completely different birthing experiences. Some were fulfilling while others fell short. This is why I chose to dedicate my life's work to assist women during pregnancy and childbirth by becoming a CPM (Certified Professional Midwife).

I also keep a current certification in neonatal resuscitation and CPR. While homebirth is a mostly natural form of childbirth, I work closely with doctors, chiropractors and other medical providers to bring every element of care necessary to service all of my clients needs throughout their pregnancy and childbirth. I’ve worked with women through both natural and medicated births, and assisted with many successful VBAC’s in the hospital and at home.

I am passionate about providing supportive, gentle and loving care to all my clients so that they may experience the birth they deserve. I look forward to providing care and knowledge to you and your partner as well as a safe and satisfying pregnancy and birthing experience. I cannot wait to meet you and assist you through your journey to a wonderful and satisfying pregnancy and birth.
