The sign above my door in Colorado feels like hanging on to an ex-boyfriends hoodie...please help me remember how hard this is! 🤦🏻‍♀️ Grief is a not so funny thing! 💔

Yesterday’s lunch was the best ever! I decided to check Ross for jeans, and in Loveland, CO there was a hoodie hanging on an end cap with my name on it! Moving is so hard…anxiety and depression aren’t uncommon, so if you or someone you love relocates, COMPASSION and PATIENCE are so important.

The reality we are living in feels very dark and disempowering to women. Just know, if you’re feeling defeated, angry, hopeless, etc. you’re not alone!

For us anxious types, it feels like if we just keep going we will get it all done. BUT…when you’re anxious or seriously stressed out, the part of your brain that kicks ass at problem solving and creativity is NOT functioning at its full potential. The best thing you can do (I know it sounds nuts) is to slow down, take some deep breaths, and get your self out of your chaotic thoughts and back into the present moment. Really…the anxiety and stress are HUGE red flags telling you to pause and get yourself grounded!

During this terribly stressful time, hope is diminishing for so many people. How do you maintain hope, or inspire hope in others?

Anyone relate to this feeling? While it may not be a mental health diagnosis, languishing is pretty damn miserable! Recognizing that something isn’t quite right, is the first step. Down days are normal, but when days become weeks, months, or even years, it’s not normal. Check in with yourself and remember it’s ok to not be ok friends.

Sadly, this is what it takes to fit in. It turns out, fitting in is lonely, and it comes at a high price. Perhaps it makes more sense to aim to find where you belong. Belonging is being with the people who can not only accept you, but love you for your quirks and uniqueness.

I look at the state of the world, and my heart hurts for humankind. As long as we insist on being “right,” or holding on to the false belief that things are “all or nothing,” or “this or that,” we can’t find connection, empathy, or create a world where differences are ok. Black and white thinking is dangerous, leads to extremism, and keeps us stuck in the mess we are in. Maybe, if all of just allowed ourselves to let go of our rigid beliefs, set our opinions aside, and be open to dialogue, we could heal and thrive together.

Worry…it’s always been a struggle right? Sadly, worry has become a normal part of so many of our daily lives. Don’t get me wrong, a little worry is ok and even pushes us to take action and problem solve. BUT…worrying about things that may or may not happen, letting worry consume our thoughts, stressing about things we have no control over, and letting that worry rob of us of todays joy is destructive to mental health and frankly it sucks to feel that way! When you find yourself worrying, asking yourself these questions can help you put things into perspective and let go (at least a little). Hope this helps! 💜

People talk about pandemic fatigue, but what I’m seeing is much more than that. People are suffering in so many ways. The common complaint I’m hearing is the ongoing stressors, with no time to process one before another hits. This level of stress, for this long, will have terrible and long lasting mental health consequences! Take care of your mental health friends!!! Take down time, disconnect from technology periodically, and be kind to yourself! 💜

Turning toward things outside of yourself (material s**t) will not bring lasting joy. The only way to find true happiness is to find contentment is to heal and make peace with yourself.

Today I’m so grateful for my adaptable boys! We are on Christmas number 2 in a tiny trailer, and my kids are still super grateful for the tiny tree. Having less or smaller can sometimes show you a lot about yourself and others. Some days I’m tired of being crammed in, but EVERY single day I’m grateful for what it’s teaching my boys about gratitude and what truly matters.

It’s funny how as adults we believe we have to learn to be mindful, because as kids we did it naturally. We lost ourselves in play not worry. We loved to discover new things, and we didn’t judge everything as bad or good. Being mindful is our natural state, but along the way we get so caught up in planning and worry that we stop living in the moment. To be more mindful, try to observe people, experiences, and sensations with a childlike curiosity.

This morning I walked outside, and I got the beautiful reminder I needed. As hard as things may be, try and remember that a new day will dawn. And with each new day, there comes hope!
