Charles Wayne McAnally, 85 passed on to his heavenly home October 16, 2025, He was born on February 28, 1940, in Santa Anna, Texas to William Carl and Eva Charline McAnally. His family moved to Balmorhea, Texas in 1946, he attended school in Balmorhea then went to Cisco Junior College in Cisco, Texas.

He began breaking horses as a young boy and in his early life worked as a cowboy for ranches all across west Texas and even up into the Dakotas. He traveled across the USA competing in Pro rodeo in saddle bronc, and while in the course of his travels he came across a cute little blue eyed blonde in Grand Junction, Colorado. He married Sondra Lee Beane in Georgetown, Colorado on September 27, 1964. They moved back to Texas working on ranches in Balmorhea and Alpine.Their towheaded baby girl was born in 1965.

In 1972 Charles purchased Henderson Pump and Supply in Alpine which started a new phase of his life, he repaired and installed water pumps and windmills. Having reached his goals in business and family and having had many diverse adventures Charles had a hollow feeling that there was something vitally missing, saying to himself that “if this is all that life has to offer it was a bit empty”.

While working on a ranch on the Rio Grande in the Big Bend area with the lion hunter Roy McBride, his eyes were opened. Roy gave him a Living Bible and told him to start reading in Mathew, so Charles read Mathew, Mark, Luke and the first of John and came to the knowledge of his lack of the Grace of an everloving Savior and as they traveled up from the river country and came to Marathon, Texas, Charles and meet Pastor Walt Gallway and in the gravel street knelt and gave his whole being to Christ.

From that time on Charles’ life changed and his desire was to spread God’s grace to as many others as possible and instead of going to another country as a missionary. Charles and Sondra opened their home to young people (Sul Ross students, many being international students) for a home away from home and a place to study and debate the Bible. Through this God’s grace was shared to many across the world but Charles also had a heart for those in the far west Texas area praying for and sharing the love of Christ with everyone he came in contact with.

Charles also had a desire to bring together the technology of solar energy and water pumping and make it useful and economical to the ranching and rural communities in the southwest. He started in 1985 designing a system working with an NASA engineer that shared his expertise of solar panels and Charles' machinist skills and Jeff Fisher fabrication abilities was birthed the Solamotor Company that installed the solar water pumping systems from Northern Mexico to Wyoming also working with British Petroleum (in the Four Corners area) pumping fluid off of methane gas wells thousands of feet deep. These were successful projects, Charles held many United States patents and a few international patents.

Charles enjoyed Flying, he took his flight instruction under John ‘Cos’ Casparis who trained WW2 fighter pilots. Steve Neu and Charles looked forward to taking friends flying on Sundays after Sunday Brunch. Charles used his plane to check on and make repairs on water wells in the vast far west Texas region.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Linda Sue and brother-in-law Don Diebitsch, and his brother W.C. McAnally and sister-in-law, Frazee McAnally

He is survived by his wife Sondra Lee McAnally, daughter Toi Ann Fisher and son-in-law Jeffery Wilson Fisher, his brother Gary McAnally and wife Linda of Alpine, Texas and William McAnally, Jacqueline and Mike French of Alpine, Texas and Jake and April McAnally of San Angelo, Texas, Lori Diebitsch and Tom Imgram of Fort Stockton, Texas, and Stacie and Terry Phifer of Liberty Hill, Texas. Deidra McAnally and Kevin McCuistion of Willow Park, Texas and Mike and Janee McAnally of Midland,Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.

The service for Charles will be November 1, 2025 at 1pm at his home church that he has pastored for over 20 years, The Davis Mountains Baptist Church in the Davis Mountains Resort, 208 Tomahawk TRL, Fort Davis, Texas.

Louis Patrick Davitt, born September 7th 1946, passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 5th, 2025 at the age of 79. He was a resident of Fort Davis, Texas, and is survived by his son, two daughters, and sister.
Pat was a naval aviator, then architect, then longshoreman, and finally a network systems architect. Like his job changes, he was a rolling stone always traveling and searching for adventure. He once said he never really figured out what he wanted to do with his life until after he turned 50. Pat explored the country by all means of transportation, most notably by yacht, Porsche, and Harley Davidson. It was not until he found the picturesque Fort Davis, with its warm people and spectacular scenery, that he decided to stop traveling and permanently settle…and transition to the locals’ standard transportation of horse and truck along with appropriate wardrobe change.
His hobbies were as diverse as his work and residences. Growing up he pursued piano, drums, camping, hunting, fishing, skiing, and sailing. By the time he was living in Fort Davis he was also an avid photographer, horseback rider, network coder, gun enthusiast, cook, and electronics craftsman. He even designed his own solar powered barndominium where he lived with his beloved Quarter Horse Rocky and Australian Shepard Zorro. His favorite pastime was going to Cibolo Creek Ranch with friends and family.
His family will conduct a private ceremony to bury his ashes on his land in Fort Davis…the place he felt most at home. Remembrances and condolences may be shared with the family at Mobile Mortician of Texas’ web site: www.mmoftexas.com

David L. “Red” Brown, 81, of Valentine, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on July 16, 2025, surrounded by his beloved family.
He was born on June 20, 1944, in Marfa, Texas, to W. A. “Slim” Brown and Rosamond Amelia “Flaxie” Lee Brown. Red grew up in Valentine and graduated from Valentine High School in 1962. A standout student-athlete, he qualified for the state meet in the 880-yard run in 1960 and earned a basketball scholarship to Cisco Junior College. But Red’s heart belonged to the open road. Even as a teenager, he was behind the wheel. He hauled cattle and sheep after school, on weekends, and during the summer. His first long-haul solo trip at the age of 14 took him all the way to Montana with a truckload of sheep.
Red joined his father in the family business, Brown Trucking Company, which was established in 1946, and in 1974, he founded his own operation, B & H Trucking. He took a 20-year detour into the produce business, hauling from California to the San Antonio produce market, before returning to cattle hauling in 1992. For over six decades he hauled cattle, feed, and produce across the country. He estimated he drove approximately 8 million miles over his career. Known for his fleet of classy, powerful trucks, Red was a legend among truckers.
His knowledge of the West Texas ranches was unparalleled—if you needed directions to a shipping pen, Red could get you there with explicit details about Y's in the roads, cattleguards, and other landmarks.
Red married LaNell Kelley on December 30, 1967, and together they shared 57 years of love and partnership. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and his family meant the world to him.
He was also deeply involved in the Valentine community. Red served 29 years on the Valentine ISD School Board and was a member of both the Lions Club and Valentine Volunteer Fire Department.
Red was preceded in death by his parents, Slim and Flaxie Brown, and his brothers, Freddie Clayton “Bebo” Brown and Alton Dodson Brown.
He is survived by his wife LaNell; daughters Kelley Carmen Brown and Wendy Nell Brown; grandson Kutter Baeza, all of Alpine; sister Carmen “Smokey” Hall Perez of Valentine; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Honorary pall bearers are Kirby Flippen, Roy Torres, J. E. White, III, Jim Dyer, Bill Max Robison, Arvin West, James Stradley, Tim Roberts, Clayton Hall, Gary Morton, Lonnie Flippen, Randy Farris, and Chuchi Baeza.
Red's faith in the Lord was strong. He leaves this message for all from Joshua 1:9: Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
Red Brown lived big, drove far, and loved deeply. His legacy will live on in the lives he touched and the roads he paved.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on August 2, 2025, at Valentine Community Church, followed by a Celebration of Life at The Mercantile in Valentine, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Texans on Mission – www.texansonmission.org/hill-country-flooding/, Valentine Community Church, or the charity of your choice.

Obituary
Jose “Joe” Villegas (August 5, 1953 – June 7,2025)

It is with great sadness that the family of Jose Villegas announces the passing of their beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He entered into eternal rest on June 7, 2025 at the age of 71.

Joe was born in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico in 1953 and immigrated to the US in 1957. He joined the United States Navy, serving in numerous countries. While on active duty he served on the USS Harold E Holt destroyer es**rt from 1972-1978 and again from 1990-1991 in support of the Gulf War. After his service, he worked as a car salesman and events manager.

Joe was a true food connoisseur, endlessly seeking out hidden gems tucked away in local, hole-in-the-wall restaurants. He delighted in introducing friends and family to new flavors and experiences, always eager to share his latest culinary discovery. A devoted lover of sweets, Joe was never without a candy in his pocket - ready to brighten someone's day with a small, sugary gift.

Outside the kitchen, Joe found joy tending to his garden. With a natural green thumb, he cultivated a backyard sanctuary that he lovingly shared with his loyal dachshund Dixon by his side. His sense of humor was as vibrant as his garden - Joe had a rare gift for finding laughter in any situation, always quick with a joke or a witty remark that lifted the spirits of those around him.

Joe brought light, love, and laughter wherever he went. His warmth, positivity, and generous spirit touched the lives of all who knew him - and his legacy will live on in every shared meal, every blooming flower, and every unexpected moment of joy.

Joe was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by his family and friends, but by all those fortunate enough to have known him.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents: Juan and Felipa, sister Ramona, and beloved son Omar. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of over 53 years: Rosario “Rosie” Flores Villegas; daughter Naomi Deal (Christopher); two grandchildren who were the apples of his eye, granddaughter Diana Ignacia and grandson Dylan Hudson; sisters Elodia, Maria, Marylou and Lilly along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will eternally treasure their memories of Joe.

Services will be on Monday, June 30, 2025 starting at 9:30 am with a Rosary followed by a mass and reception at St. Laurence Catholic Church, 3100 Sweetwater Blvd., Sugarland, TX 777479.
