The Jeff Davis County Sheriff's Office will be hosting a Siren Sound Off with all the surrounding First Responders.

Following we will have a hotdog picnic for the community at the Fort Davis Fire Department.

It's getting cold!! ❄️ 🥶 especially this weekend!! Here are some safety tips to consider when leaving or staying at home.

🔥 Space heaters 🔥 If you are using space heaters to stay warm then please make sure you are plugging your heaters into an outlet and not a power strip. Doing this this could cause your power strip to overheat and start a fire.

💨Carbon Monoxide💨 If you are using gas or fuel-burning heaters please make sure there is proper ventilation as CO can be deadly. If you have CO detectors please make sure they are working. If you don't, you may consider purchasing one (or more, you can never have enough).

❄️Ice Awareness❄️ Roads, sidewalks and steps may be icy so don't rush and SLOW DOWN when driving. when braking, give yourself time to slow down safely. When you are walking please watch your footing to prevent injury and make sure your holding onto something if your walk paths are too icy! Those handrails aren't just for decoration!
