William G. & Marlys Smith Simulation Center at Iowa Central

William G. & Marlys Smith Simulation Center at Iowa Central The William G. and Marlys Smith Simulation Center is a health care training facility located in Fort Dodge.

We host students from Iowa Central as well as outside organizations interested in Continuing Education Hours or utilization of our facility. The William G. & Marlys Smith Simulation Center is a 10,000 square foot medical training facility operated by Iowa Central Community College. Within the Simulation Center you will find the following Sim Labs:

- Pediatrics
- Nursery
- Labor and Delivery
- Skills (CNA Room)
- Medical-Surgical
- CCU
- Emergency Department
- Ambulance
- Apartment

Each room is audio-video recorded for the student to review after the scenario with their instructors. In addition to the Sim Labs, we have two classrooms available that can accommodate 16 students per room. The simulated training utilizes nine life-size high-fidelity mannequins programmed to replicate a comprehensive array of different patient conditions ranging from newborns to geriatrics.

This week is Radiologic Technology Week, and we are excited to recognize our amazing team members! Our Radiology Imaging team performs CT scans, MRI scans, Nuclear Medicine studies, Ultrasound imaging, fluoroscopy and X-ray. We are so thankful for their amazing work at Trinity Regional Medical Center and are so glad they are part of our team!

Happy Halloween and Facebook Friday 🎃🩺✨
The William G. & Marlys Smith Simulation Center has been buzzing with activity these past two weeks!

Last week we hosted:
• Two groups of Theory III Nursing students from Webster City
• Two groups of Theory I Nursing students from Webster City
• CMA students from Fort Dodge
• A&P II students from Fort Dodge
• A Triton Visit Day for local and surrounding area high-school juniors and seniors exploring healthcare careers.

This week we welcomed:
• Eight groups of Theory I Nursing students from Fort Dodge
• Students from Woodward Academy in Des Moines for a tour and hands-on visit
• Career Discovery Day guests exploring Nursing and the Simulation Center experience

It’s always inspiring to see future healthcare professionals learning, practicing, and discovering their passions here at Iowa Central! 💙

🎉 Wow, what a week!

It’s been another busy and exciting one at the Sim Center!

✨ Theory III students from Webster City worked through four patient scenarios, building their confidence and critical thinking skills.
✨ Des Moines Roosevelt students came by for a tour to see simulation in action and learn about healthcare career paths.
✨ A&P II students practiced collecting patient information and connecting symptoms to possible diagnoses.
✨ Theory I students from Webster City visited Sim for the first time! They learned about manikin functions and participated in three patient scenarios to get familiar with how we run simulations.
✨ Manson Northwest Webster High School students wrapped up the week with a tour and a few fun hands-on activities!

We love seeing so many future healthcare professionals learning, exploring, and growing their skills with us each week. 💙
