Start the year off strong. This is a really great issue. Keep letting us know when you have events coming up so we can include them in our calendars. We love getting article articles from the community so if anybody has anything they want to write about please let us know. Remember this is about Tahlequah, about the people…it’s about you. We want to hear your stories. We love getting recommendation for people to be on a cover. Would love having companies talk to us about sponsorships. January is National Glaucoma Awareness Month!!

Glaucoma is a group of eye diseases that damage the optic nerve—the part of the eye responsible for sending visual information to the brain. This damage is most often caused by increased eye pressure, but glaucoma can occur even with normal eye pressure.

What makes glaucoma especially dangerous is that it often has no early warning signs. Vision loss typically begins in the peripheral (side) vision and progresses slowly. By the time symptoms are noticed, permanent vision loss may have already occurred.

The good news? Early detection can prevent vision loss. Routine comprehensive eye exams allow your eye doctor to detect glaucoma before noticeable damage occurs.

Protect your sight. Get your eyes checked. 👁️
