Wondering how to help your toddler’s language grow?

You don’t need fancy flashcards or hours of prep time.

You need… everyday moments.

💡Driving in the car? Narrate: “Car go” “Drive”

💡 Washing hands? Narrate: “Wash, wash, wash!”

💡 Putting on shoes? Narrate: “Shoe on! Other shoe!”

💡 Opening a snack? Narrate: “Open! Crackers! Yum!”

Your toddler learns by hearing you talk about what’s happening around them—in real time.

That’s speech therapy without adding anything to your already full day. ✨

Simple words. Everyday moments. Real connection.

That’s where language starts. 💛

✨ Screen time guilt? Let’s drop it right now. ✨

Summer days are LONG (can I get an amen? 😅) and sometimes a tablet or favorite show is what gets us through lunch, errands, or meltdowns. And guess what?
That doesn’t mean you’re “ruining” your toddler’s language development.

👉 As a speech therapist and a toddler mom, I’m here to say:
Screens can actually HELP language grow—when used the right way.

In my latest blog, I’m sharing:
📱 My favorite screen time swaps
💬 How to turn “watch time” into “talk time”
🤷‍♀️ And why it’s okay when life gets busy

Because it’s not about zero screen time.
It’s about making screen time work for YOU and your little one.

Remember it’s all about connection!

Mealtime can still be a chance for language growth.

✅ Model short phrases
✅ Use visuals
✅ Talk about colors, textures, and tastes
✅ Practice social skills
✅ Keep a predictable routine

It doesn’t have to be Pinterest-perfect...
It just needs to be real life... and sprinkled with simple language moments 💬

“If you’re THIS CLOSE to hiding that book under the couch… 😅👇”

You know the one.
The book they bring you 7 times a day.
The one you could recite in your sleep.

But here’s the good news (and the SLP-mom reminder I tell myself too 👏):
👉 Repetition = language building
👉 Every time they hear it, their little brain is making connections
👉 Vocabulary, comprehension, memory... all growing with every “again, Mama!”

So the next time they hand it to you (again 😩)…
Take a deep breath… add a silly voice… and know you’re doing something GREAT for their communication skills 💬✨

💬 Tell me below… what’s the book your toddler is obsessed with right now? (Bonus points if you’ve “accidentally misplaced” it before 😂)
📌 Save this post for the next time you’re tempted to skip story time 😉
