Let’s not forgot PROCESSED FOODS! ☠️
Dairy
1. **Hormonal Content**: Dairy products contain hormones like estrogen and progesterone, which can promote the growth of hormone-sensitive cancers, including some types of breast cancer. Elevated levels of these hormones may increase the risk of developing breast cancer.
2. **Saturated Fat**: Full-fat dairy products are high in saturated fats, which have been linked to increased levels of circulating estrogen. This can contribute to the proliferation of breast cells and potentially increase the risk of cancerous growths.
Growth Hormones
1. **Insulin-like Growth Factor (IGF)**: Many dairy products contain insulin-like growth factors that promote cell growth and proliferation. Elevated levels of IGF in the bloodstream have been associated with an increased risk of various cancers, including breast cancer.
2. **Endocrine Disruption**: Growth hormones used in livestock may disrupt the endocrine system when consumed. These hormones can mimic natural hormones in the body, potentially leading to hormonal imbalances that may elevate breast cancer risk.
Red Meat
1. **Heme Iron**: Red meat is rich in heme iron, which has been associated with oxidative stress and inflammation. These processes can damage DNA and promote carcinogenesis, increasing the risk of breast cancer.
2. **Cooking Methods**: High-temperature cooking methods (grilling, frying) can produce carcinogenic compounds like heterocyclic amines (HCAs) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). Consuming these compounds may elevate cancer risk, including breast cancer.
Alcohol
1. **Estrogen Production**: Alcohol consumption can increase estrogen levels in the body, which may contribute to the development of hormone-sensitive breast cancers. Higher lifetime exposure to estrogen is a known risk factor for breast cancer.
2. **Acetaldehyde Formation**: Alcohol is metabolized to acetaldehyde, a toxic compound that can damage DNA. This DNA damage may increase the risk of mutations that lead to cancer development, including in breast tissue.
