Example Activity: “Animal Sound Play” 🐮🐴🐶
Grab a few toy animals or even animal pictures. Hold one up at a time and model the sound with lots of expression and repetition:
• “Cow says moo!”
• “Dog says woof woof!”
• “Sheep says baa!”

Then, pause and wait — give your child time to try to imitate you. Celebrate any attempt, even if it’s just a sound or smile.

Make it playful:
• Hide animals under a cloth and say, “What’s under here?” before revealing them.
• Let your child “feed” the animals while saying the sounds (“Moo wants to eat!”).

Why it works:
Animal sounds are some of the very first speech-like sounds children can imitate. They build confidence, turn-taking, and early sound awareness — all key steps toward first words.
